Don't know what happened, one minute I was just browsing for the February half term, the next thing I knew I'd booked it. Got a really good deal on UC LGW-MCO.

My next step is to once again ask the 'Great Supremos' of V-flyer which seat they would recommend.

Outbound is OK as it is the same aircraft as my flights in August(747-400 config 3, no seats showing upstairs) that I have already had a lot of advice with. The inbound flight however is a 747-400 config 1. Mind you, there are not too many to choose from.

Thank you y)

Hi Sunsational :)

For starters;

how many of you are travelling? :?

what seats do you prefer, aisle, window or centre? :?

which class are you travelling in? :?

do you prefer to be near an exit or loos or not fussed? :?

R-P :)

Duh, having had yet another senior moment, (50 in January, feels more like 75) UC, (as in post above) 2 x adults, window.

Thanks R-P much appreciated

My preference is always the A Zone.

Midway between front and back is best for me

You'll be on the LGW config coming back, it sounds, so as you say there isn't much to choose from. Grab whichever proximate pair you can to begin with, and if you are in a couple you might find 6A/K to be to your taste (many here do when traveling in pairs). Typically these seats weren't available for early selection, but would be released around OLCI opening (sometimes an hour or two before through your booking management screens).

My MCO flights in March are the exact same config as yours (config 3 for outbound and config 1 for return. Although I believe config 3 no longer exists now and it should be config 4 with Y seats in the back half of the upper deck)

For the outbound I chosen 15K in the nose section and for the return I've chosen 8K (which are actually in exactly the same location on both 744 configs)

All seats where available for selection for config 1 when I made the booking.

Last night I just took any seats inbound and outbound just to make sure I had something. James we must think alike as I had taken 8/9A inbound and 18A/K outbound. I would have liked 19 but they were gone. We had 12A/K last August and didn't like them much. y)

Now for my next bit of info gathering,
Can anyone tell me what the Clubhouse at Gatwick is like and does it have the revivals lounge like LHR?

Thank you

Yet another ooops, except this could be a big one, John has just reminded me as to why I wasn't supposed to book in February, our first grandchild is due on the 25th , the day we arrive back. My daughter is going to have to sit with her legs crossed until we get back!! That's if she talks to me again after I tell her.

No revivals at LGW

In anycase you should be heading home as ASAP so your daughter can uncross her legs!

I've tried the clubhouse at LHR but I don't think we're going to like LGW by the sound of it :0

Thanks again

If you look at some of the UC trip reports ex LGW you should get an idea of the LGW Clubhouse. I know there are several fans on here who prefer it to the LHR one because of the friendliness and professionalism of the staff.

The lounge in MCO is owned by Delta. While nothing like a Clubhouse it is a nice place to wait for your flight rather than in the main area. Drinks and nibbles are available but it isn't a place to hang out for hours

Hi Sunsational

I was in the MCO CH in October which was the first time since it's been upgraded/revamped.

I still prefer the LHR CH but I did enjoy my couple of hours there witha yummy brekkie, 2 glasses of bubbles (I have to be honest here in case Sunshine reads this as we were together :|) , a pot of camomile (yes, I know what a contradiction)).

I enjoyed a free neck & shoulders massage :D & felt relaxed & ready for our flight. There is a good choice of treatments that you can pay for & a few free ones.

There are several quiet corners if you want peace & quiet. The CH as a whole felt spacious yet intimate :?

When are you going to let your daughter know? ;)

See you in there y) :D

We used the Gatwick Clubhouse on our way out to MCO last month.

It is not as good as the Heathrow one (size, most facilities, food) but still a very friendly place and a great place to unwind before a flight.

I would even go as far to say that the spa/treatments area is better than Heathrow.

Cheers R-P, which flight are you on? I think I'll tell her the morning we leave, on the phone, so I can cut it off, so I don't hear her scream ):

Thanks HL, good advice as always,

A big thank you to everyone on here, the advice is always spot on :D

Hi Sunsational

You're on the early & we're on the late so we'll make sure that we're in the CH to meet up with you :D y)

Perhaps you should send your daughter a postcard when you land at MCO :w
