Just watching on BBC news - appears that G-VOGE is stuck in the middle of 09R due to the snow!

Quite amusing seeing the flight crew hanging out the flight deck window waving at the news helicopter!

So I guess it's full of passengers trying to get to Miami. So near, yet so far. I really do feel sorry for all onboard.

The captain waving was funny!

Which flight is it operating? Are there passengers stuck on board?

Loving some of the blatantly made up tweets from people "on the plane"

http://twitter.com/#!/snewman2

"@BBC i'm on the virgin atlantic plane on the south runway and we are running out of food and drinks"

You've got through the 9 hours worth of food and drink that the plane would have been loaded with in an hour on the ground? yeahhh...!

Cover Girl brought me home from LAX last week :) . I thought the airport was closed until 5pm though so what was it doing?
The weather at LHR looks nearly as grim as it is here - we might be having gruel for our Christams lunch as we're well and truly snowed in :(! .

This BBC News journalist is a disgrace, the phone interview with the VS passenger and the VS Comms Director are a joke with phrases like 'terrifying'...

I'm getting a bit fed up with these journos plugging the 'UK has 2 flakes of snow and grinds to a halt whilst everyone else carries on' myth. Large parts of N Europe are struggling, Frankfurt/Munich/Paris/Switzerland have all been badly affected in recent weeks. Rapid falls of heavy snow will cause issues almost everywhere south of the artic circle!

BBC are reporting that it was the inbound from MIA rather than a departing flight.

Kinda explains some of the comments

Yes it was this mornings inbound flight!! The pax were kept on the plane for 5 hrs, so they may well have been running out of food and drink!

Interview with someone on the plane on the BBC here - sounds very complementary about how VS handled things!

Ok, so it was an incoming flight.

Anyways, great PR for VS, for once a pax doesn't try to blame everything on the airline.

sounds like fun flight a go-around and then landing in heavy snow.

at least the BBC found a happy passenger and not one who moans a lot!

As usual...lots of mis-reporting..The plane wasn't stuck at all on the runway. It was sitting on one of the taxiways while waiting for a parking bay.
