Concorde RIP wrote:Wow - that must be some schedule of military precision, such that a nominal departure time change of 1 hour 10 minutes de-rails everything.

A military background necessitates good timing in everything :)

Hi
On this new aircraft does anyone know yet which door will be used to enter / leave the plane. Just wondering if everyone will enter through the front and pass through P/e . If the second door is used P/e would still have priority boarding to the left of that door and economy to the right. Maybe depends where the air bridge can connect. If an answer is not known what door does BA use on their Orlando flights as this might help work it out.

No one will know what any of the A330 procedures will be until the aircraft comes into service next year.

Lots of you have been asking about seating requests for your flights on our new Airbus A330-300's next year…. Our long awaited seat maps are now available. You can assign yourself seats via the 'Manage Your Flights' section on our website. Please remember we will always try to assign your preferred seat but these are a request only.

From the VS facebook page... get selecting people! Anything interesting on the seat maps now that they are up?!

Not sure how the 777 on BA would help...its a different aircraft.

Your best indicator will be to look at the 330 that LH send to MCO during the summer sometimes. They are currently operating a 744 in there and then it goes to 346 until June time. However all airlines have different procedures and as Tinks points out no one will know until VS get the aircraft.

I would imagine that they will use the L2 door on the A330 at both MAN & MCO. The L1 (front) door is well forward of the normal operating area for the jetbridge. On a 747, the jetbridge could probably just make the L1 door - but the L1 door on an A330 will be several feet further forward, even when allowing for different parking positions at the gate.

As Tinkerbelle says, the only real way of knowing will be when the aircraft enters service. (But a quick search on A.net of A330's at MAN seems to show them all using door L2 for the jetbridge).

I was looking at the A330 production list, and can now see:

G-VSXY due in April 2011
G-VKSS next in line (will be leased)
G-VLUV after that
G-VGEM to follow
G-VINE is another

I wonder what each will be valled - I hope 'Chateau Virgin' for the last one and breaking with tradition I hope 'Diamond Geezer' for G-VGEM!

There are some pictures of G-VSXY on the VS intranet and it's looking good so far!

The new Economy seats look comfortable and their are Widescreen seat-back TV's!

I remember that G-VLUV was one of the registrations for the cancelled 346's - back then that plane was going to be called "Sweetheart".

I just want to know when the G-VJAM (Lady Marmelade) registration (also a cancelled 346) will make a reappearance.

Why not? All but G-VINE have already been assigned test registrations

Somebody in VS said only the two already confirmed were going into service with VS. That's all I am going to say. Don't know how credible the source is (apart from them being VS and air-staff)

Yes, only the first two with Y and PE are coming in 2011. The next three or four will be leased to another airline (by the lessor, not VS). Future ones might come to VS later, after 2012 when the new UCS is announced.

Next year, apart from MAN-LAS, there will be only very minor additions to the flight schedule.

All a huge disappointment.
