For the last 2 years I've been flying AA over VS.

Due to some spare miles and the fact VS were considerably cheaper than all the other airlines I booked VS again for the family xmas holiday.

I just hope the VS hasnt had to lower their prices to fill their seats as regular flyers to the states are now using other airlines (as I had done after 15+ years with VS) due to lower levels of service.

Am I to expect the same poor level of service I received 2 years+ ago or have things improved since I've been flying AA?

Or are we in for a good surprise with better service levels and working tv screens!

Seconded - I've flown with AA 6/7 times over the years, and each and every one has been a fairly poor experience.

If I were forced to fly a US carier, my preference would be Co/UA/Delta in about that order.

Question re route is valid though, some routes have more travel weary aircraft than others usually assigned, and finding seats where the screens don't work etc does still occur occasionally.

Based on my experience, the level of service you are almost definitely going to receive will be above that on AA.

Hi, Thanks for the responses. Im flying LGW-MCO.

The last 4 flights I've made where with AA. 3 on the LHR-MIA route and one LHR-LAX.

I must say I had no issues with any AA flights so far.

Only using VS again due to AA not flying into MCO direct and the fact VS was a lot cheaper than all the other carriers.

Just hoping the VS experience will be a good one.

Just returned from florida using VS again having defected to AA the last 2 years

I must say that the airborne side of the trips exceeded my expectations and reminded me how the airline was 15+ years ago.

The only thing that let the whole experience down was the checkins at both sides

The lines were much longer for bag drop then had we used the check in line

We had 2 carry ons, the 1st weighed 3kg and was more of a handbag than luggage. The other weighed 8kg. I was made to take item after item out of and place in the 3kg bag until mine weighed 6kg. Surely if the total of 2 bags was under 12kg there wouldn't have been an issue and more passengers could have been processed in the time it took me to hit the magic weight across both bags

On the way home I used the iPhone app to checkin. We were checking in 2 extra bags so it said to phone a number to get them added. I did this and the guy said he couldn't get thru to baggage people so would put a note on our booking for online baggage price at airport. I lucky took his name and number as I've yet to experience anything said on the phone ending up on the booking. Got to the airport and there was no note about online booking price being allowed and took 10 minutes arguing and then supervisor getting involved before they'd only charge online price

Would not have had to worried had VS stuck with 2 bags per person. Do they think VS customers are stupid stating the new rules simplify the process and make it cheaper? Doh

Would think about using VS again if their fares were cheaper than AA as they were for this trip
