I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call today from VS CS checking that I was happy with everything for my flight on Friday. First time this has happened - I was surprised especially as I'm only flying in Y on Friday.

Is this a common occurrence or a new service?

Either way I enjoyed the extra attention!!

Yes others have received such a call.

Did they ask if you wanted to uppgrade?

Unfortunately no! She did mention about extra legroom and exit row seats at different prices - £25 and £50. I was unaware of the £25 fee until now. I wonder where might that be cabin-wise on a LHR 747 v4?!

That's more the real reason for the call, to try and sell the extra legroom options!

A couple of months ago, got a call to tell me that my departure time for one of my booked flights had been brought forward by 45 minutes and was that ok.

Often wonder what woudl have happened if I'd said "no. It's not ok":-)

Ok, so it's a UC flight, but there was still 5 months to go before the flight!!!!

Nice touch tough...and, I got an email telling me the same thing the same day!
