Just before the introduction of the charge some months ago I re- applied for all our ESTAs as I'd "lost" them. Mr DLs and mine were processed immediately but DB's wasn't for some reason (and I can't remember what the response said as they've all processed without problem previously?). Subsequently, I forgot all about it.
As she didn't travel with us a few weeks ago I now don't know if it was granted or not and can't find anything in my emails?
As she and I are off to NY in a couple of weeks I need to make sure she has an ESTA. Is there any way of checking (and what should I be looking for)? If I need to re-apply (and pay the fee :(! ) so be it.
Many thanks.

You are a bit stuck without the application number, as you need that to make changes/check status etc.

All of ours weren't approved straight away when we had apply again a few days before they started charges, because we lost ours also, but it was just down to the sheer number of people applying and a few minutes later when I checked back they had all been approved.

So the likelihood is that it was approved, but is it worth risking it for $14?

The ESTA site seems to be down at the moment, but there is an options to view it and update as needed.

You need to provide name, DOB, passport number and a few other bits and it should tell you if approved and give the approval number.

One of the changes they made when they started charging was to indroduce a 'search' function using the info listed by Darren and rather than just by the approval number.

ISTBC but I don't think they actually email you anything to say approved/not approved. I certainlly didn't get an email whan I applied when I got my new passport last August.

Ah I didn't realise that, thanks for advising. Glad they did make that change it was very silly that they only way was to have the reference number.

Saying about emails - arrived home to find an email from the lovely people at US CBP reminding me that my ESTA is about to expire!

This was the one linked to my old passport that I renewed in August ...

DL - on the ESTA site there is a button on the bottom of the 'Welcome' page on the right hand side that says

If you are missing your Application Number, please click here.

If you click on the words not the button below a form to retrieve your (well the D-Baby's] application comes up.

All sorted (and it had been approved). This is a much better system than the previous one of you entering the application number.
Thanks
