Hi all

VS do not fly direct to Texas hence I have booked with BA.

As a first time BA flier any suggestions to improve flight and airport experience would be welcome.

Heathrow-Houston 18th September (in boeing 777) return Dallas-Heathrow 05th October 2011 (in Boeing 747) in world traveller plus for myself and wife

How does WT+ compare with Virgin premium economy ? for food, drink, seats, priority boarding and disembarking etc

Pre-booking seats costs £25 per person per leg so will probably wait to select seats at online check-in n(

Do you think the flights will be full and we will not get 2 seats together (one a window) ?

There are a few Trip Reports for BA flights on here so have a read of those. People often compare VS and BA services etc.

As to the seats - yes you probbaly could still get window seat at OLCI (do it as soon as it opens) but there is still no guarentee. If you absolutly want specific seats then I think you'll have to cough up the ££

Funnily enough I flew with a colleague with BA WT+ to Dallas in December. The plane packed.

It's a weird configuration with WT+ between Club and First, which does mean you get off at the same time as Club (Club in the bubble looked most frustrated waiting on the stairs).

I didn't notice any priority boarding for WT+. I'm only a Blue card holder (most of my points have been with VS). We didn't pay for the pre-seat allocation which I regret doing as we were stuck in the middle of 4-seats which was tedious to navigate people feet, but we were in the first row of WT+.

The return was worse as we were again in the middle of 4-seats but worse still in the last row which meant being squashed when the guy in front lent his seat back. Also, when the lights went down is was impossible to get past the guy next to me without disturbing him when he was asleep. Pre-seating would definitely have been good here.

There was an amenity kit which included socks and eyeshades with a WT+ logo.

Being next to Club it's possible to sneak food from the Club fridge. Not that I would dream of doing that. ;-)

Overall, the day flight out was fine, but return I wished I had reserved window seat next to my colleague to make the return flight less stressful.

Hope that helps.

And yes... this probably should have been a trip report. :P

I had understood that CC allowed WT+ pax to "raid the larder" on the 747, at least unofficially. Not much can be done about it. As such, this is probably the best perk. I only did this once - it was OK, somehow it didn't feel as good as VS, though I don't think in actual fact the product is that different. Some of the forward seats in the cabin have a ton of space, and I liked the old config with the single seats in the front row - I got to sit in one of them.

WT+ pax are not allowed to help themselves to the Club Kitchen, but on the config where WT+ is infront of Club it can be very difficult for crew to recall who is seated in which cabin so difficult to police.

WT+ is really economy with a better seat, as clarkeysntfc has said. You do not get priority check in or boarding as you would on VS and the meal is also from Economy. The benefit of WT+ is the smaller cabin and greater legroom. As a BA flyer I would say that WT+ can't hold a candle to VSs PE offering, but it should be more comfortable than being in WT.
