Just a bit of fun..... everyone here is well travelled with lots of experience from many different airlines!

If we all started an airline, what would you insist on? What would be on the "must have" list?

Or I suppose another way of looking at it - what would make Virgin better?

For me....

- A similar class to the suites on Singapore A380.
- All seats would have wifi, live TV and inseat power.
- Much like the US domestic airlines, ability to view seat map prior to purchase.

Thoughts??

(Mods - hope this is in the right board!)

An airline that recognised status? Every time!

I personally don't like the idea of the suites on Singapore, too shut off when wanting to be at a window and with a travel companion...

I would prefer something similar to the UC suite but maybe a bit more like BA First, pointing towards windows (but defiantly not obscuring them with a stupid window/blind!)

Proper amenity kits and bigger toilets for the front.

T10 is a must!

NO mobile coverage on board. Live cameras to view all the time, AVOD on all the time, bigger screens (but not too big that you cant adjust the position)

No backwards facing seats, or stepping over other peoples legs in business, or passing food etc right in front of other peoples faces.

That's just to start :p

I will have a think...

On 2nd thoughts we would need to accomodate families - perhaps there could be a child section at the back? Like a creche? Sound proofing between that cabin and the rest? :D

The upper class wing and private security channel is a must. But to make it better, I'd love it that once I'd gone through security there was a door that took me straight to the CH and bypassing the endless shops....

Once in the CH there is another door that takes me straight onto the airbridge!

Free wifi at the terminal too!
34"+ of pitch for economy seats
If there is a first class, a bar on board (of course) but also for biz too, and a self serve one for economy like QF has on the A380.
Able to have a family FF account like BA
Always two rounds of drinks for Y passengers
For PE 2x 23kg bag allowance or 1x32kg (sometimes its annoying to have to split things into two bags to avoid a fee!)
For UC/First - a seat that reclines more before you have to flip it into a bed.
T10 AND Hendricks!

Anyways, just what I can think of for now!

The First suites on SQ/EK are not shut off per se - if you want to travel as a pair with a window travel in tandem 1A/2A etc. Absolutely fabulous :D :D . If the cabin isn't busy and you wish to eat alongside a companion the crew will move you to ajoining suites where the divider drops. The window blinds are electric as are the suite doors :D. Travel heaven regardless (and the Dom Pom makes it even better.... :D :D :D ).

Right - my wish list. Showers (having had a shower at 35.000 ft I want another one :D ). Failing that, consistent service and recognition of loyal custom :) .

a few proper thoughts especially related to UC

= being able to pre-order from a wider menu range and being able to mix and match from items that the airline would still set and regularly change. otherwise choice is still from the on board menu

= proper amenity kit / extras - could even be available in the CH

= absolutly on pain of death no using the 'wrong' toilets for your cabin.

= Over head lockers to be opened by using the bar code on boarding cards - so no snatching other peoples space or dumping stuff on the o'head closer to the door if you are sat at the back

= all IFE to be AVOD

= CC to be able to turn off lights and IFE at non occpied seats to prevent light polution (and save electricity)

= proper enforcement of all baggage and carry on allowances - even for UC pax

= extra shelf space for our travel companions to rest on (Tonty wanted this !)

= staff on free travel to be reminded to be discrete about it etc

= pre-bookable treatments back in the CH

= welcomed on board by name and taken to seat where a drink wold be waiting (could specify as part of FC membership preferenced)

= NO mobile phones to be allowed to be used once you have boarded

Love the idea of showers! I love the little mini bar thing that pops up in the Singapore airlines suite - also electronic!

Tonty - I think toilet class enforcers would be great! Tazers perhaps? Lol

To balance out the comments so far :?

Household account pooling- Any paid seat should be entitled to some mileage award- the age of the bottom in the seat shouldn't factor..

Less london centric operation

Upgrade award voucher, with no clauses (except maybe package deals)

In terms of flying club: Any one traveling on public funded money (government contracts etc)- Mileage accrued to be pooled into a fund that can be used for charity flight incentives...... :0 Controversial :0

Amenity kits... rather than a pair of socks wrapped in cardboard.

Actual prioirty baggage reclaim at MAN :P

I like the charity flights idea pooling all corporate travel...

Also, perhaps an airline that catered solely for premium/UC/First?
That would mean betterstaff/passenger ratio and more attentive service?

I getr the feeling that beiong more focused as an airline would have it's advantages (yes, and probably disadvantages) - trying to be most things to most people confuses the issue...

For those objecting to children, not all are loud and disruptive - perhaps guidelines could be set out whereby a family could be moved to a closed off "noisy" area if breached?

Get back to the "fun of it all" - quirks, nice touches and cheery/jloky staff - oh hang on, didn't we used to have that?!

Deals like companion flights (amex, etc) are actually 2 for 1 deals. As in you don't have to buy a full fare to take advantage.

At seat food/drink ordering like the VX Red system.

Priority boarding if you also purchase an extra legroom/exit row seat (Jetblue does this now)

Noise canceling headphones in First/UC/PE

Ability to pre order your food from the regular choices (not just special meals) during booking/OLCI to ensure you get your choice.

Better MPM deals to make them actually worth it.

Serve kids first so they complain less and offer kids meals. (SAS does this along with giving them ice cream)

I like the idea of the family seating area. It would be nice if a family sitting together could link their AVOD units so they can actually watch a movie together rather than all hitting play at the same time.

Put more kids movie/entertainment options in the family seating area, and more adult/teen rated entertainment in the regular area.
