Hi All,

Has anyone had any experience of not being able to log on to the 'Manage your Flights' section on the Virgin atlantic website?

I booked my holiday to Vegas online through the Virgin Holidays website (flying direct from Manchester to Vegas with Virgin Atlantic).

I have never been able to manage my flight online. I've phoned 'customer services' many times and have been told that I should not have any problems. They even gave me a different reference number to try but that didn't work either!

Additionally, when I try to log on to the Virgin Holidays-Manage my Booking area, I get told that my booking doesn't exist. After telling me that there shouldn't be a problem, their 'customer services' team then came up with some feeble excuse about my booking being of the 'new' type and the system will not recognise it.

The thing that really annoys me, apart from Virgin's customer service team, is that our friends booked the EXACT same holiday/flight on the EXACT same day that we booked ours etc, the only difference being that they booked theirs in a Virgin Travel agents whereas we booked ours online... they have no trouble managing both their holiday and their flights online!!

I'm fed up with phoning customer services and getting fobbed off and I would love to be able to log on and reserve my seats etc.

Has anyone got any advise of who to contact to get this sorted??

Many thanks!

Matt

OK, a couple of questions:
1) Have you got your Virgin ATLANTIC flight booking reference? This will be different to the Virgin Holidays booking reference.
2) Have you got your tickets with a long number that looks like 932-123456789?

When you log in have you tried putting your first name and middle name(s) together in the First Name field, e.g. Edwardjohn This is a known bug with MMB.

Thanks - Ed

Another possibility is the 'when is your flight' question - others know better than I, but don't VH block book seats and then sell them to customers such as yourself, but actually take some time to tell VS the details of who is actually travelling - so you may have a booking with VS, but that's not yet replicated in detail other than 'VH reserved seat'?

I have my Virgin ATLANTIC booking reference(6 digit alpha/numeric). This was printed on my Virgin HOLIDAYS invoice. Also, in my numerous calls with Virgin Atlantic customer services, I was also given a different number (I think they called it a flight locator number, also 6 digit alpha/numeric).
I do not have my tickets yet.

I have tried all combinations of names, first/middle/surnames but still no luck.

During my calls to VS, I did actually get them to reserve my seats for me (near our friends). I'm just soooo frustrated and slightly concerned that I can't do this myself.

(this is the same with VH as well, I can't log in to pay for my holiday or book excursions etc)

Thanks for your help!

Matt

Slinky is right, they have a hold on your seats but will not have issued the tickets, they don't have to do this until 2 weeks before departure.

Once you have your ticket number you will be able to manage your booking but until then you will have to do it over the phone.

Check your name is spelt completely correctly on your invoice - I couldn't get into Manage My Flights on the VA website and it emerged that Virgin Holidays (with whom I booked) had missed a letter out of my first name, which I hadn't noticed in umpteen checks of the invoice to look at the booking ref/Flight Locator numbers! I could log in using the incorrect spelling. Must get that corrected....

I booked my VH holiday online last year, had similar problems. I popped into my local VH holidays store and the staff there were really helpful, looked up my booking and gave me the details I needed.

Perhaps worth a try?

VS have a work-around in place for VH bookings, in that you can view VH booked VS flights before the e-ticket is actually issued.

Since last year, VH appear to have moved all of their US+Caribbean bookings (excluding Florida) onto their new reservation system which doesn't allow you to view your VH booking online at all now using the VH website. Worldwide bookings have been on the new system for some time now.

You can tell which system you are booked on by your VH booking reference format. If it's XXXXXX/SXX its the old system, if it's just a 7 digit number it's the new system.

You are supposed to be able to view these new system bookings using the Travelport ViewTrip website (https://www.viewtrip.com) but VH bookings are 7 digit references and ViewTrip only accepts 6 digit references?

My VH Cuba booking is the same, in that I cannot view it online anywhere n( I have asked for the VS PNR once my flight booking is sent across to VS as my holiday is still more than 11 months away yet.

Many thanks for all the replies!

I have finally managed to manage my flight online :D

During yet another call to VH regarding managing my booking, I was told that I can view my flight booking using the VA website. I told her that I knew this but it wasn't working for me. She paused for a short while and then told me to try again in 20 minutes.

I don't know what she did but when I tried, it let me in!! I couldn't believe it!!

I managed to view my booking on http://www.viewtrip.com as well. Instead of using my 7 digit Booking Reference, I used the 6 digit 'Airline Booking Reference' which was on my invoice and it worked. Maybe you could try that 'mitchja'

What a shambles!

As a client of either VS or VH, I take viewing my booking online as red - really this is quite poor.

I'm struggling to understand how VS/VH manage to make such a pigs-ear of this stuff - it's not rocket science! (Complicated, yes, but not that hard).

I run IT projects for a living - if my IT implementations were as "quirky" and disconnected as this, I'd be looking for a new job!
