To the point ii)

However we do know that the food and drink were excellent as were the cabin crew and seat.

We can guess that the entertainment system broke down. And as for the groundstaff - well, you simply wouldn't believe it!

Overall we know it was a good flight/experience (that is, after all, a smiley smiley). ii)

And that is the best I can do. ):

Hi Steven, it would be great to hear more about your flight. How were the crew? Was the inflight system ok? How was the experience?

Doesn't have to be long or extensive but just as much as you can. However, the more detailed the better!

Hope you had a good trip though!

Luke :)

OK Here goes - critique away and excuse my ignorance at the proper names for stuff :|

This is not the first time that I have flown UC having made several trips backwards and forwards to Jamaica as I am working out there.

The Clubhouse
Normally when I fly to Kingston I have checked in online and am literally running through the terminal to get to the gate in time so have never been into the clubhouse, however as it was bank holiday (the 3rd January) the trip down from Nottingham was a breeze and I arrived with nearly 3 hours to while away in the terminal.
The Clubhouse was great, I was greeted on my arrival and was briefly shown round by the receptionist. I decided to treat myself to some breakfast and was kept regularly topped up with juice and tea.

The Gate
The Kingston flight is normally full and Jamaican's dont really understand the concept of listening to the announcements and boarding in the right order. As soon as there is the slightest hint of people getting on the plane it is like the next sale and its every man for himself.
However, for some reason the priority entry wasnt open and the ground staff started to call passengers by row. I walked to the front of the queue to the desk and the several staff that were there were more worried about the 57 passengers that needed help and time to board than anyone else. I only know there were 57 as you could hear the gate staff moaning about so many people needing assistance (or not actually needing it as they made quite clear) - not very professional.
I was told that the normal priority boarding lane wasnt open but if I wanted to push my way through the line to the front then I could.
(An english guy pushing to the front of 250 Jamaicans........I dont think so).

Seat
I normally try to get the seat right at the front and I had it on this flight. Its a little bit cosy with the person opposite but I am easy to strike up conversation with so its not normally a problem.
I like it because I dont like to be bothered all the time so it was great as normal.

In Flight Entertainment
Now, maybe I have been lucky before but the system is normally on demand. This was the first time that I have been on where the schedule is linear. I like to channel hop and if I get bored with a film and want to watch another then VOD is great for me. However as it wasnt on demand I lost interest and had to wait an hour and a half for another film or programme to start. Even some of the low cost airlines have some form of VOD - when you are paying for a full fare UC ticket - its a disappointment.

Overall
Everything else was up to its usual great service level, the crew are even starting to recognise me now so I must be becoming a regular, but the two small things took the shine off a little.

Hope thats ok!! |:)
