THats correct. You can only drnk champagne if bought on plane (the only duty free you can drink). Its a deffo no no to bring your own booze to drink.

Generally speaking there is no issue with you bringing your own food but with the unspoken assumption that you try not to bring anything messy or smelly onboard. Sandwiches or anything cold/room temperature is great - Burger Kings, pizzas, etc, while perhaps yummy for some are very off-putting in an enclosed cabin because of the smell.

Thanks HighFlyer. This reminds me of a trip back from ORD on 15 Aug 08 when a very large American lady brought a bag of burgers and fries into the UC cabin. She proceeded to cram most of the foul-smelling food into her mouth but, unfortunately, several of the fries ended up being ground underfoot. Most unsavoury.

Memory lane: I believe that tontybear flew out with us LHR-ORD on 8 Aug.

I have noticed when traveling down the back that it is becoming more and more common for people to bring their own food and I am not surprised as everytime I fly it becomes more un-edible.Pret seemed to be the sandwich of choice. At MIA Pizza Hut is also popular given its right next door to the VS gate.

My brother now insists on Pret sandwiches on all his flights after suffering the effects of a rather dodgy BA Y class meal a couple of years ago. :$

Tinkerbelle wrote:Those Burger Kings are the worst though - they just stink the whole cabin out and they smell disgusting to start off with!

Apart from that, the crew will not batter an eyelid if you bring your own food on board with you.

To be fair I agree that BK is rather stinky but more often than not in a cramped Y cabin I have smelt a lot worse things (and not just emanating from the lavatory area) those horrid breakfasts seem to be just as bad smelling.

Ewww the Pizza Hut and BK in Miami airport are gross! So greasy! A few people took some BK food onto the flight, glad they weren't near me as it stinks!

I have booked a Vegan meal as it was the only way to have no meat or dairy. So in anticipation of a bowl of lentils I am clutching a tuna sandwich and various other delights so will fill the cabin with a fishy aroma when I open it after a few warm hours of flying :D ):

Fish is probably the worst smell on a plane especially stinky tuna! (Where's the being sick Neilie?)

TBH I haven't seen lentils on a vegan meal in a long time.
