Yes, the LGW fleet have the extra legroom seats on them. They are available for £35 per person each way.

You can buy them if you are on a reward seat. If you mean can you pay to upgrade a reward seat to PE then, no, you can't in advance, but you probably can at the airport if there are still seats available.

Thanks for the reply Neil here is a quote form VA site. (4) Extra leg room seats - if you would like more leg room you can purchase exit row seats at Gatwick airport on selected flights on the day of travel from between £50 and £75 one way depending on the route. Alternatively Virgin Atlantic is creating a number of Economy seats on its Gatwick fleet of aircraft with a larger seat pitch of 34 inches which will also be available to purchase at check in for only £30 one way I was wondering where on board are the 34" pitch seats and are they worth grabbing at the twilight checking. as for PE thanks I will bear that in mind.

Sorry, thought it was £35 each way, but sure the VS site is correct at £30. The seats are in different locations depending on which a/c you are on, here are the locations:

VS website also says you can phone to book extra legroom

Our Extra Leg Room or Exit Row Seats can purchased when you check in at the airport on the day you travel. Alternatively, if you have booked through the Virgin Atlantic website or our contact centre, you can now also book these seats by simply calling us on 0844 209 7777 up to 24 hours before you travel. All our Extra Leg Room and Exit Row seats are offered on a first come first serve basis subject to availability.

thanks guys, it's the age old problem want more room and to be off the A/C and to be towards the front of the immigration queue but travel economy with a reward ticket :D
