So about 6 weeks ago I applied for the normal Virgin CC (it's pretty and pink lol) but now I notice they have the fly miles card.....does anyone know if I can swap this over, or will it be a case of having to re-apply for the Virgin Miles CC and then do a balance tfr from my normal CC??

If I would have to reapply would it be a problem as it's both with Virgin, I remember my mum had a RBOS card and then a new one came out with discounts so she tried to apply and do the balance tfr and they said she couldn't as it was the same company.

You will have to re-apply for the Virgin Atlantic version of the CC here

As you have already stated with your mums CC, you will not be able to ballance transfer between CC's issued by the same company.

What I suggest you do is apply for the VAA version of the Virgin CC first (you are perfectly able to apply for more than 1 type of CC issued by the same company - so dont worry about that). Once you have done this, to transfer your ballance apply for a completly different type of CC issued by a different company, then trasnfer your existing ballance from your old Virgin CC to the different CC then transfer from the different CC to your new VAA FC CC.

I think the maximum number of times you are able to ballance transfer within 12 months is 6 times so you will be OK transfering the ballance over 3 CC's

It's a bit of a pain but worth it.

Ring the Members Shop on 08456 10 2000 (Not the MBNA Free phone number) they will help you out and tell you the quickest way to change to the VS card - either the free one, or the fee paying card.

Yes I think I might do this then, even if I just buy my Petrol and food shopping on it evey month (obvioulsy and pay it back on from my current account straight away so no intrest is accrued) thats about 300 a month, then there is the clothes and shoes LOL :D

I already have another CC which I do not use so no balance, so I will tfr my Virgin Balance on to my Mint, appy for Virgin CC with Air Miles and then tfr my Bal from Mint back to Virgin,

Jobs a gud un.

The only thing to watch out for is that UK CC issuers are now cashing in on the UK CC ballance transfer craze by charging you a % of the ballance you wish to transfer. Some issuers are doing it, others arn't yet. I dont know if either Mint or MBNA do. I know Barcleycard and Halifax now do it.

Call Virgin first and ask them, I saw something about being able to change from a non FC card to a FC card, but it was in some paperwork not online.

Be careful if you plan to use the card for a balance transfer and regular purchases (petrol & food). If you spend say £300 in a month and try to pay this in full any payments you make will be set against the balance transfer first and you will pay interest on the retail purchases until the whole of the balance transfer and then the retail spending is paid back.

...and if you pick the "2 FF points per £1" card, the APR is a wopping 28%!!!

This include the annual fee though.. the real APR is 15.9 for purchases or 20.9 for cash. Don't be using this one in ATMs boys and girls...

..and get that direct-debit form signed, to pay off the full balance each month.
