Hi Claire,

That's correct, the 747 flights do operate the MCO route from LGW with PE upstairs in the bubble.

There are also a few PE seats downstairs.

What dates are you travelling?

Hi Claire,

Depending which flight to MCO you are thinking of using, you may be on the new A330-300 which has a larger PE cabin at the front of the plane and does not have an upstairs.

The aircraft type are always subject to change, but usually pretty accurate.

From the dates you have listed, the earlier VS27 is operated by the new A330-300 which is a brand new flight with top notch entertainment, PE seating at front of the aircraft.

If you're wanted the 747 with the PE in the bubble, I suggest taking the later vs15.

Of course Claire, you can view all flight layouts here:

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/allaboutus/ourfleet/index.jsp?type=14

Also, if you go to the "Toolbox" at the stop of this page and select "which aircraft" you can choose your flight number and route and get extra details.

Of course, if you have any questions, just post on here.

We are on the VS 027 on Monday 28 February on a 747-400 (config 4) with some UC and Econ seats in the bubble but, unfortunately, all the PE seats are on the lower deck.

I imagine this is one of the usual LHR/US aircraft, so it looks like they are on the LGW/MCO from time to time.

However, luckily we are in the bubble on the return - VS 028 747-100 (config 1)on Friday 18 March.

Regards,

It appears that from the end of half term through to Easter, on most weekdays when two MCO flights leave from LGW, the earlier one is a LHR config 4 plane. We've got one on the 3rd March.

We;ve not been able to allocate seats so are planning on going for the economy seats in the bubble at online checkin - any thoughts?

We're flying on VS27 on Friday 15th April. We've been 'allocated' seats in the PE section on the upper deck but I don't think we'll know until OLCI day whether this is actually the case.
I followed the 'toolbox' search today and have noticed that the VS27 LGW to MCO is 'Tinkerbelle' a LHR 747-400config4 with PE downstairs :(! I'd never paid out all that extra for PE if I'd have known it wasn't "in the bubble".

Don't forget that if you do at an LHR config a/c, you get the new purple leather PE seats and V-Port IFE. Also, the PE cabin on the LHR fleet is nothing like the downstairs PE cabin on the LGW fleet.

Unfortunately, you are paying for a type of seat, there is never a guarantee what a/c type you will be on, and even if you did get a LGW config with PE upstairs, again, there is no guarantee that you will get a seat upstairs, you could be moved for operational reasons.

I am sure you will have a great flight, whatever a/c you are on.

Thanks for trying to reassure me Neil :)
I've been travelling on Virgin Atlantic since 1991, most of my trips have been to Orlando & recently Las Vegas, and we've always managed to bag those upstairs seats in PE.

I've never flown on a 747 in PE downstairs but have flown several times on the Airbus with the PE layout of 2-3-2 and this is why I have concerns. We came back from JFK in 2010 and were not impressed with the product (even with the updated PE).

Anyway we must try to stay positive, whats done is done and all the family are looking forward to the sunshine and the 'add-on' trip to Boston on the way home. Thanks again.H
