VS Gold Benefits on Singapore

Hi all,

I'm taking a couple of flights with SQ in Economy and wanted to check what VS gold card holders are entitled to on Singapore Airlines. I couldn't find any other posts on here so apologies if its already been debated.

1. Do I get lounge access at any airport when flying with Singapore? I will be flying from DXB where I think they use the star alliance lounge. The website says:

Flying Club Gold members travelling on Singapore Airlines in Economy class, can use the Singapore Airlines Business Class check in counters and relax in either their Premier Lounge or the Business Class area of Silver Kris Lounges around the world.*

* Available in Adelaide, Amsterdam, Brisbane, Hong Kong, London Heathrow, Manila, Melbourne, Osaka Kansai, Penang, Perth, San Francisco, Seoul Incheon, Shanghai Pudong, Singapore, Sydney and Taipei.

I dont know whether that means that these are the only airports where you get ANY lounge access, or that these are the only airports that have a SilverKris lounge.

2. Does a guest recieve the various benefits or is it me only?

Hi Swedey2k, I can comment from experience.

I flew to Hanoi from Manchester in economy last summer with Singapore and my gold card got me access to all of the lounges on route (including the shared lounge at Manchester). Also checked in at business class counters and got priority baggage.

I was refused entry for a guest once in Singapore however other than that my guest was let in without question...when I returned I did check with premier team who were not 100% sure but in the end the consensus (she checked with some colleagues) was that you were not allowed a guest. I believe though that the “no guest” rule is unique to the VS arrangement (i.e. Star Alliance partners are allowed a guest) so there’s a good chance your guest will get in...

Excellent, thanks very much Tom, just what I needed- and glad its from past experience too as you never know that what they say and what is in reality may be different!

Am looking forward to comparing the star alliance lounge in Dubai to the one VS use- and especially the lounge at Changi!
