Bag weights

Do any of you find your bags tend to weigh about the same each trip? Odd question, I know - what sparked this off was whenI was watching the Real Stansted Airport the other night, baggage handlers were dealing with some weighing around 29 kgs. Ours almost always come out at around 17kgs each - and more often not both himself's and mine weight the same. Spooky huh????

Everytime we arrive at check in I always have so much luggage I could keep the baggage handlers occupied all by myself! My husband produces his apology of a micro-case and I then have to sprint over to the excess baggage cashier to avoid him realising we could have an extra holiday a year if I only learnt how to pack sensibly!

23 kg always, spooky ... 14kg if it's a work bag ... 30 kgs coming home and strangely an extra bag!

weighs in at a tad under 23kg which is what it usually weights when I go away.

Coming back though ...

I always seem to accumulate clothes that need recycling, so I tend to take them on holiday and find a Goodwill place or something. Which in turn leaves me space that I have no choice but to fill before coming home Himself is usually to be found muttering that the bags are too heavy and they never are... I put it down to one of his little pre-flight routines

DITTO ! I thought I was the only one who took old but presentable clothes (especially t-shirts that I wear under another top) which I wear then leave in a bag in the room hopeing the maid reads the note ...

Sadly, it seems you are not alone lol

Depending on the trip...

Shopping trip to USA, 2 x 11KG on the way, 3 x 25kG on the way back (always got away with it!).

Holiday - always managed to get it at just over the 20kg mark which is usually the limit for tour operators and of course they happily charge you an extortionate £x per kg!!

Have just joined your wonderful informative site.
1 bag approx 22kgs containing clothes,a second approx 15kgs containing Shoes,books and toiletries.Usually the same each trip.lighter on the return, used the toiletries and leave books behind for someone else to read.

18-20kg usually, although I did have a fit once when I mis-read the scales at home as 40kg when it was actually 40lb. 10 minutes for frantic re-packing later the brain caught up with the eyes.

Same here. Usually under the 20kg since that is my limit on my flight over to the UK. Mind you that includes an extra bag and I pay for that on-line before OLCI of the UK-IRL leg

On the subject of baggage weights though, I really hope there aren't too many people here who play the bag weight game at checkin and make comments such as "arhhh, you're heavier than me hahaha" and "ooo that was lucky wasn't it, 20 kilos"
I know most people only go away once a year and the airport is as good as the holiday but at around 4am I really couldn't care less, I hear it everyday and I don't want to know!!

I couldn't play that game since it's usually himself who packs. With me supervising, obviously

Outgoing to the US, our bags are usually heavy to the limit - but that's because they contain empty bags as well as the things we need.
Return flight is 3 cases each in the hold - all heavy! Plus 2 bags each in the cabin!

Not as bad as it used to be - before restrictions were brought in, we have been known to bring back a cooler full of steaks packed in ice. That really was heavy
