We've visited Key West several times before & have stayed at Ocean Pointe (rather pricey now) & others (but they aren't too highly rated on Tripadvisor now).

I'm looking for 6 of us for 2 or 3 nights. We're happy to stay in a hotel or a cute B & B. We'd ideally like the old town.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

It's been a while, quite a while. I liked Albury Court, TBH we were young and happy to just be there :)

The location was perfect, on the margins of the old town, but not right in the middle of it, and a couple of blocks to Cafe Sole, where we had wonderful meals - the chef's father owns a bar in Florence I got dramatically drunk in many times in my youth, and he'd come over with a bottle of Chablis after the dinner service would end, and we'd shoot the breeze :)

Wasn't even Spring Break. I'd stay at Albury Court again just to be able to eat in that place again!

The Marquesa Hotel is pricey but lovely and smack in the middle of Old Town - the cafe is excellent too if you decide elsewhere!

I'm guessing you drove down? Which, once done, is enough. My preference is to fly down, whereupon there is no reason to hire a car if you're in the centre of the town.

Yeah, have done it a couple of times, as it allows us to head into the Everglades and onto Naples at the same time before heading back to Orlando. I agree that the roads can be a bit monotonous and frustrating, with minimal overtaking at times. :?

To all of you dear darhling V-Flyers who were kind enough to take the time to give me your suggestions which I investigated, I thank you. oo)

However, as I was trawling thru the various websites & Tripadvisor I came across http://www.suitedreamsinnkeywest.com. This is not a hotel, it has several suites of various sizes.

This property has been taken over in the past 6 months & refurbished. As our group of 6 became 4, we decided to book a 2 bedroomed, 1 bathroom suite, complete with sitting room, dining area on funky high padded stools with a high circular table, (just enough to lay out a continental breakfast that we'd bought earlier in Publix),kitchenette & balcony.

Well, we've just returned & I have to say that I can recommend this establishment.

It was about one & a half miles away from actual Mallory Square (the only slight downer), in a quiet & nice neighbourhood (Meadowlands) with laundry, free parking, plunge pool & shady garden areas that were all relatively private due to the clever use of trees & planters.

A small welcome pack was waiting for us, along with a very clean, contemporary furnished property with cute quirky features.

The half hour stroll to Mallory Sqaure combined with the layout of roads meant we could always take a different route there & back. This enabled us to admire the cute houses, the Airstream caravan oo) & say hi to all those we passed by.

I just have to add that although we always took a different route, it always went past the COACH outlet y) ;)

This is interesting stuff folks.

We plan to take the fast boat from Fort Myers Beach to Key West next year and are considering a short sojourn there.

Honey Lamb

I'm soo chuffed with myself because I saved over $620 on just those 4 items which meant that I had that to spend at the COACH outlet in Orlando a few days later :D

To you & me, that makes perfect sense, but 'love-him-as-I-do-but..........' just doesn't seem to understand this logic ):
