I started this thread and never got around to applying for an Amex card. It seems that it was more trouble that it was worth!

I disagree. I expressed my thanks earlier in the thread, and I still think it is a brilliant deal.[8D]

Having said that, I am one of the lucky ones. The inconsistency of service (whoever may be at fault) is appalling [:(!]

Got the miles in the account now:D

All in all it has been worth it - but I still won't renew next year - unless they give me a good reason to ;)

I did consider applying but given the problems I don't think I will bother.

Just telephoned Amex customer services as I have been waiting over 12 weeks for my points. Again told that the points take a long while to post so I explained I had waited over 12 weeks and had previously been told they would be posted by now. The very helpful lady then said she would get the back office to make an immediate manual transfer!

Hopefully they will show soon:D

For those of you who've already recieved your 20k points:

1) Were they put into your MR bank or directly into your VS flying club account?

and 2) Did you, at any point, give your flying club number to Amex?

The reason I ask is that one CSrep has said that they will be put into my MR account and the other said it will go directly into my VS account. But here's the thing - they don't know my flyng club number and don't seem to want to know it.

I remember that when I applied for the card over the phone, the Amex agent rang me back about 10 minutes after we had finished to ask my FC number. So, I supplied my number to Amex and the miles went straight into my FC account.

1) Yes, credited directly to FC account
2) Yes, gave them my FC number during the application process on the phone.

When I applied on phone, I also ensured agent was aware that I was joining as part of the VS promotion, and gave them the necessary reference number.

Well after nine months of my (I know I know I shouldn't mention it) BA Amex premium I still haven't had the miles. Amex themselves are next to effing useless in resolving this, and on one occasion put me through to the BA booking line to resolve it! Tried again tonight to get an imbecile and no resolution. I'd close it but they owe me 25,000 miles, just as soon as this is fixed it's goodbye Amex, they're a shower!

Still waiting and still being told... "Won't be long now!"

Strange that after spending my first £1k on the card, they managed to transfer 1,000 miles within 5 days - but no 20k yet!

Just makes me wonder about being told that the transfer system was having problems.

It obviously only works if you want a few miles at a time![:(!]

Well I called them again and they said upto 90days, (90 damn days), for creditation. Apparently, there has been some confusion about the deal so those who have taken up the offer are being manually credited. Somthing like that... People; make sure have your FC number so they can send them to your account. They didn't have mine and I was told they didn't need it by two reps. I thought this was a bit strange; what are they going to do? Get everyones account number from virgin? When I called them a thrid time, the rep told me they do need it.

I don't know. Really. [V]

Well Amex definately have my number because they called to confirm it after my initial registration (they had an extra zero at the start)

FC say it takes 6 weeks Amex 12 but I cant see how an automated process should take more than a month (assuming a monthly batch)

Anyway I'm still to see these miles (or not)
£95 for 0 miles isnt good value!! but as I stated in an earlier post im not in a rush to get them..I'd just like them to credit so I can close the issue!!

Just called American Express Customer Services and was told that due to a problem with the internal systems "which is being rectified", we should expect the Airmiles to be credited to our Flying Club accounts at the begining of October.

You have to hand it to Customer Services they know how to spin a good yarn ;)

Just received my gold card, but just a quick sanity check... is there a minimum spend to be eligible for the 20k miles, or can I just buy my weekly groceries at £30, then cancel card before the year is up (and after I've received my miles)?
Many thanks, folks

Sandy

There is no minimum purchase amount, you are entitled to the 20K points as soon as you make you first purchase with the card.

As you will see if you read through this thread. Some of us were lucky and got the points paid directly into our FC accounts not long after using the card [^]

Others are STILL waiting [:(!]

For the record, my 20k got credited - finally! - today. From initial spend on the card until today, it took them about 12 weeks.

Hello!!

1st thing this is my first post on here so hello to everyone.

Anyway after spending lots of time with American Express customer service who insisted everything was all rightÉÉÉ.A very helpful lady called me back to say they had a digit wrong on the monthly file they send across to VF even though I double checked when I applied. This problem has also happened to the other 5 people I told to take up the offer!!!

Never mind I am now looking forward to the pointsÉÉ.. if they arrive

Welcome to the site, PJ [y]:D.

Unfortunately, you'll find us a little quicker to respond that Amex/VS in regard to this particular problem... ;)

Still no miles for me...

Its been 15 weeks after my first purchase and 2 weeks after amex promised an immediate manual transfer and still nothing.

On chasing amex today they apologised profusely, blamed Virgin systems for the delay and said the miles would definately be posted but could not give a time frame.[n]

Oh well, at least i'm not desperate to use the points.
