We had a very pleasant drive from Wales; it was a lovely sunny afternoon and traffic light. We booked Purple parking meet & greet who were waiting for us as we arrived.
We had checked in on line the night before and as Mr D is a gold card holder we went to the Upper Class desk to drop the bags. We were on economy rewards flights so enquired about emergency exit seats and premium economy upgrade prices and were told that we could have 2 emergency exit seats for an extra £25 each or Premium upgrades for £199 each. The flight was only 6.5 hours so we took the emergency exit seats 51 H & K. We took the lift to find an empty security channel and were quickly ensconced in the clubhouse. It was straight to the spa to book treatments, a haircut for
Mr D and a back and shoulder massage for me, which was wonderful, it helped to easy a stiff shoulder I had been suffering from. Next was afternoon tea. The sandwiches were a little dry but the scone was very nice. Our champagne was topped up constantly. Later we both had the Belly pork, which was extremely tender. Unfortunately I had no room left for pudding.
Boarding was on time and we were straight onto the flight. The seats were very good
Giving us more legroom than in PE. The captain announced that the flight was only
50% full and feel free to spread out after take off. We remained where we were as we were comfortable. The combined food and drink service commenced soon after take off. By now I was feeling a little less full so decided to have the dinner, which was a very small salad starter, small Gu pudding, dry bread roll and I choose the cottage pie, of which I only had one mouthful and left the rest as it was cold. Wine was served in plastic cups with a generous amount poured the purpose of this, I imagine is to eliminate the need of a second run of top ups. I requested a cup of decaffeinated coffee, which was delivered quickly with a smile and was nice and hot. Cabin crew were efficient but not much in evidence after the meal service. The IFE had to be rebooted not long after it started. I started to which The Kings Speech but fell asleep quite quickly and slept until the breakfast offering of tea, coffee or juice, a muffin or cookie. My request for decaffeinated coffee this time fell on deaf ears and I never received it! n(
Touch down was smooth and we began the long trek to baggage reclaim where our bags were waiting for us. It was off to Dollar car hire next to pick up the car and we set off for a five night stay at the Hilton Ras Al Khaimah before heading back to Dubai for the seven nights of the Art Dubai week.
This was our first experience of economy on this route having travelled in PE and Upper class previously and we were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable we were helped by the emergency exit seats. So overall a positive experience. y)

Thank you enyce085 for taking the time to read my trip report and posting your comment. From the sudden rush of trip reports to and from LHR to DXB, there seems to be quite a few V-flyers visiting the UAE this month.

Hello!

Very true, there have been a number of TR recently! I love reading them and will always say "thanks" because it takes a lot of time to sit and write them. I always enjoy hearing different experiences and often pick up tips!

Luke :)
