We stayed at the Hilton Ras al Khaimah from 8th – 13th March 2011. First it is worth making clear that there are 2 Hilton’s in Ras al Khaimah (about an hours drive from Dubai). The Hilton Ras al Khaimah is an older city hotel whereas the Hilton Ras al Khaimah Resort and Spa is a newish beach resort. If you stay at either of these you can use the facilities of the other and there is a frequent free 5-minute bus ride between the two.
On a previous trip we stayed at the Hilton Ras al Khaimah Resort and Spa on a package holiday with Virgin Holidays who are the exclusive UK package holiday sales agent for this hotel. This is a super hotel with great rooms on a fantastic beach with large hot and cold swimming pools and a good selection of excellent restaurants.
On this trip to Dubai and Ras al Khaimah we used rewards miles and as booking a package with Virgin Holidays was not an option we found that booking the hotel with Hilton direct the price of the Resort and Spa was three times the price of the city hotel (£180/ night compared to £60/ night). So having heard good reports from people staying at the City hotel on our previous trip we thought we would stay there and save the £600 for 5 nights.
Overall the hotel was quite satisfactory and is what you might expect from a typical 4 star Hilton (officially 5 star). As is usual in the Emirates there are plenty of staff keeping the service levels high. The bedroom was not modern or cotemporary but OK and the bathroom was typical of a Hilton airport hotel and with older plumbing and separate hot and cold water taps for the shower control it was tricky to get a constant temperature on the shower.
Breakfast (free with Hilton Diamond card) was good with live egg station, pork sausage and bacon etc. alongside the usual cereals, cheese, ham cakes waffles toast etc.
As for diner we had bought some Entertainer Vouchers (10 for £5) on ebay, which gives a buy one, get one free for the main course in various restaurants. We used these at the Hoof and Fin at the city Hilton, the main buffet restaurant (which as it turned out could be used at all of the other on site restaurants) at the Hilton Resort and Spa and Al Jazeera at Al Hamra Fort Hotel). Over 4 meals we saved about £80 with 6 more vouchers to use up at Dubai.
A major advantage of the Hilton City Hotel is the ability to use the facilities of the Resort and Spa Hotel for a third of the price. Unlike both Dubai Hiltons (which we have also stayed at) there is no Executive lounge at either of these resorts. So no free alcohol and snacks however there is a Duty Free shop within the Hilton Resort and Spa selling cheap bottles of wine, spirits and cans of beer which we saw people consuming around the pool.
This turned out to be an extremely low cost holiday and hopefully the reader will have picked up some money saving tips. We did not have a Jacuzzi, a Butler and room you wanted to stay the whole week in but we still had an enjoyable and relaxing break.

Daffodil

Thanks for providing some useful clarification on the two similar named resorts

I have stayed at the Creek a few times and the Lounge is one super feature - from your report Mrs Buns & I might consider a two centre stay next year

Wow, what a bargain holiday. y)

Thanks for all the info. Really useful. Hmmmm, might have to start considering this option :?

I have to admit I'm a sucker for the Hilton Dubai Creek because of the roof top pool where you can admire the views, listen to the sounds of the city whilst soaking up some rays ;)

Time to start planning your next trip ):
