Im going to Vegas in September & looking to book with Virgin, flying Premium economy out & Upper class home. I've never flown Virgin before & was wondering if theres anything I need to look out for in pe & uc, specific seats to book, lounges to go to, pros & cons etc etc

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Great site by the way.

Cheers

hello and welcome

I'd start by looking at the 'Trip Reports' for your flights in 'The Toolbox' These will give you a good idea about what to expect.

Hi and welcome

For me I'd reverse the PE / UC legs, unless you're putting a high premium on sleep on the way back. UC is, for me, much more fun when you're fully awake. Also, are you flying out of Gatwick or Manchester? If the former, then reversing the PE/UC pattern will allow you to take advantage of the Gatwick lounge..

(and what Tonty said... :) )

Cheers for the tips guys.

Flying out with a mate who can't afford upper class but probably would of reversed to take advantage of the lounge at Gatwick etc etc. Flying back on my own so have gone for upper class.

I read somewhere the latest planes only fly out of Heathrow ??, is this true ?, any chance by September this will change.

That is true the newer LHR config 747 have vport and newer PE seats. However, recently a number of LGW/MAN routes have been operated by LHR config aircraft. However, it would be a case of waiting until closer the time to see what you get.

What config does your online booking show? If PE is upstairs then this is an LGW/Man config so older seats/IFE etc.

I'm actually booking my flight tomorrow, have it on hold at the moment.

Is it worth asking when I pay what the config will be, or is the journey too far away for them to know the exact config

The other alternative is to fly via SFO or LAX and take an internal flight to LAS. You would then be guaranteed the latest planes and IFE systems
