Hi

Call me slow - but all this talk of the new Airbus and the 747 refit has left me very confused!

Basically - we are flying economy ( n( ) on VS029 to Barbados from LGW on 25th June back on VS032 from St Lucia on 5th July.
Will we get the old 747 or is there a chance that some will have had a refit - or might it even be a LHR 747 with V Port (one can dream!!)?

Is it worth telling VA that we're travelling for my 50th birthday / 30th wedding anniversary? Might be a bottle of something in it for us?!

Thanks in anticipation of your replies!

Hi there,

I would think it will be the current style 747LGW/MAN config 1/2 which you can look at in the toolbox section. These planes have the older Nova and Odyssey style entertainment systems. I wouldnt have thought any of the 747's will be refitted by june :( You may get lucky and get a LHR V:port aircraft operating that day but i would hold your breath.

Hi Mrs D,

As far as i am aware, it will only be the MCO ( Orlando) routes that will get the airbus at the start. This i am sure will change over time.

Regards

Well you can tell them but on a scale of one to ten the chances of doing so resulting in anything for you are probably below zero! :( So probably best not so you don't get cross :(

Ps Didn't you get married young? y)

Sorry but probably not. You can order a bottle of champers from the retail therapy magazine that you can drink on the plane (the only DF you can drink). The CC will even put it in an ice bucket too.

You could do it and surprise Mr D (it's his anniversary too!) or just leave lots and lots of hints for him to do it ): ):

Looking at the 'which aircraft section' I'd say you've got a very good chance of a LHR plane with V-port on the VS29 (81% in fact). Not so great on the VS 32 (39%).

Fingers crossed they don't move them to an alternative route.

BGI has a much 'higher' chance than any other LGW route of getting V:Port. This is because it is traditionally a very high yielding route (read lots of business passengers) so they often sub in an LHR aicraft onto the route or if for some reason they are an LGW 744 down and need an LHR plane it will nearly always operate the BGI.

However last year was somewhat odd as two LHR planes were at LGW for a period, IIRC, and so MCO also saw heavy LHR a744 traffic.

Thank you very much for your replies - I thought it would be a bit quick to ask them to refit a 747 just in time for my wedding anniversary!!

Fingers crossed we might get a LHR one with V-port - have just returned from Vegas & it was the old entertainment system, as expected - 11 hours and it was dire!!

And yes HWVlover - we did get married young. In those days you didn't live together before you were married!! The youngsters of today don't know they're born......!!

Both Jan 2010 and 2011 to and from Barbados- Vport each way. I know that doesn't help you but I'm relieved I seem to have escaped the other IFE!
