Actually, it's all over the place right now ... speaking as I sit in the SFO clubhouse ;)

Rule of thumb is 4 hours prior to departure ... so while flights have been departing at 17:25 for the winter, check-in was opening at 13:25. This month, since the US has gone on summer time considerably earlier, flights have been departing at 18:25 (and actually as late as 19:05 on some days), so check-in today opened at 14:25. Clubhouse is now open most of the day if you have access.

After the UK goes on summer time, flights from SFO will revert to the usual departure time of 16:30, meaning we're back to 12:30 check-ins.

That's because Aer Lingus, whose flight currently leaves at 3:15pm uses the SFO lounge. That in itself is enough to make me consider flying EI - but only consider!!

Very true - and in fact you now have the Virgin America Clubhouse deal for first class passengers, and I believe they are keeping the lounge open, with minimal service, throughout the day - though the free food goes from appox. lunchtime to about an hour before VS20 departs.

We're now reverting to usual hours for VS20, unfortunately, but I have to say that showing up five hours before departure time to an almost empty lounge with a few EI customers, and having a very leisurely lunch while being looked after very attentively, has been a pleasure I shall miss.

With the extra UC seats on the 747s, the lounge was eventually full to pretty much capacity last Friday, with folks showing up a couple of hours before departure, basically unable to get a table.

Is this info still current, now that the VS20 is leaving at 1950? Clubhouse open 1030 according to my notes? And checkin open 1550-1600ish if 4 hours before departure?

That information is 3 years old and has been out of date for some considerable time.

The VS 20 leaves at 19:05 on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday and at 19:50 on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. The Clubhouse now opens at 3pm for the early departures and at 4pm for the later ones

The VS website states that Check in opens at 12:55

The monthly schedules feature is also broken

The VS website really needs a total over haul in the accuracy of the information on it

Don't see why not. The terminals are all close to each other at SFO and it helps that the SFO CH is 'land' and not 'air side'

it says on VX website

Please note: The SFO Clubhouse is a short 10 minute walk from the new home of Virgin America, Terminal 2. Plan extra time to clear security before your flight.
