Upgrade an N ticket?

Hi

I have 2 N tickets bought in the current fare sale to HKG and returning from PVG in March. These are the lowest tier of tickets but just wondering if there is ANY chance at all of being able to upgrade these? Maybe if I was to ask at check in on a full flight? I am not hopeful but any advice gratefully received.

MAYbe at check-in, if they're doing any "special fares" on the day - to get people to PE because they need to.

Other than that, not a chance - sorry - as you already know, it's the lowest form of fare. Non earning, non-changeable, non-refundable, non-breathable.

Yeah, and if it was BA - theyd probably charge you for the meal too in N class. N = nothing!

When I booked my 'Freddie' fare to SYD last week I asked the same question as I'm also traveling on an N. VS said I might be able to upgrade at the airport on the day. I've got everything crossed here and I will have until June 1st 2006!!!

FWIW I successfully upgraded from an N class ticket to PE at check in flying LAS-LGW earlier this year.

Just for the record,I have found that BA are less likley to charge for stuff than VS,can we say exit rows,oh im an idiot and left my passport in my hotel room 30 miles from here could you move me to the next flight while im flying on a ticket that cost me $100.Just whats happened to me over the years.

You really can have luck on N class tickets, especially at the airport. I was traveling LHR-BOS on N. Asked at checkin about upgrades, and was told it wasn't possible using miles [they did try to SELL (!!!) me an upgrade though].

While in the CH, I was paged and told if I wanted to redeem 10,000 miles, the'd happily put me in PE.

This is all good news I'm hearing. I am a Silver so hopefully there is a better than average chance of an upgrade. However my wife is not a member at all so would they allow me to use miles to upgrade us both? Anyone ever been allowed to double upgrade to UC?

Also what's the easiest way to get another 20k miles - can I buy them online like with BA?
