It will be interesting to see how this new IFE will attach itself to UC, if they get a new seat or a remodel of current one.
Screen size and remote etc.

With people who are putting down the new IFE, they have a bit of a point. Virgin are playing catch up with some airlines that have offered something similar for a while now, with much more choice too (not necessarily on competing routes though). But this is a huge step up for the LGW/MAN/GLA fleet, less so for the V-port fleet.

But looking at their route network, they fly almost 95% above land where wi-fi wouldn't be too difficult to get working.

I dont think at present any airline that crosses an ocean has wi-fi on board - I could be wrong, and feel free to correct me, but surely crossing an ocean is a major problem to try and get wi-fi working efficiently?

(I have no idea how these things work, so just putting it out there!)

Hmmm... Actually, LH was one of the first carriers to offer on board internet. Today, they offer full internet services on board long-haul flights via FlyNet:

The above scenario you described already happened last year when HA took deliveries of their new A330-200s with a similar Panasonic IFE. I was on board one of the planes 3 weeks old and fresh from Toulouse, flying to HNL, when a customer in front of my seatmate complained of the "tapping" in back of their seatback.

In all honesty however, if the new VS IFE is like the Panasonic IFE delivered for HA, it will be a great system. The screen resolution and clarity and the system's many options are phenomenal. Regarding the touchscreen and the "tapping" issue, VX seems to have resolved that issue with their Red system.

Looks like a good time was had by all - a good celebration.

Interesting that the commercial director spoke about two flights a day to MCO - a slip of the tongue or will VS73 change to seven days a weeks?

Lovely take-off, thanks! Still wish we had Union Flag wingtips!

Is this flight having issues at the moment, it was late departing yesterday by nearly 3 hours and seems to be the same again today. Is it due to problems with the A330 as my friend is flying on VS75 on Friday.

It was late yesterday due to a technical problem.

It really isn't late today though ?| Left at 11:12am, so only 12 minutes late.

Well the successor to ex2 has just been announced just this week;

And seems 3D is actually on the cards! Looks like it's going out of date after a week in service haha! (although seems elements of this have been taken by VS like the IFE controllers in PE for example)

The important thing about EX2 (like EX3) is the ability to customize it - to update and improve the configuration.

The big test for VS is whether they do - or whether they let other airlines lead the way.

I do not see 3D as being particularly attractive but high end games to keep the kids occupied would be good - perhaps a flight sim. linkable to actual data :w

It will be interesting to see what system goes into the UCS (if we ever get it)

Where is Beauty Queen? Not on the usual MAN MCO run; no flights on the database for a while now.

Beauty Queen has today run from LGW to MAN but Mamselle Rouge has apparently done the VS75 MAN to MCO run.

Was Beauty Queen at LGW for some attention?

Yes, SXY went straight down to LGW when it stopped operating the 75, and has been there since.

She's probably being used for crew training. All the LGW crew have to be trained on the 330 and as part of your training you have to have an aircraft visit.
