After boarding at MCO - the pre taxi cabin music played was hip-hop - "crap". It was already too loud - but then it was turned up to a deafening level - until several passegers complained - when it was turned down (but still too loud and very unpleasant). After a few minutes was turned up again. This was in the up stairs Premium cabin. This rowdy uncouthed environment is not what I expect when paying the full price for a PE ticket.
No pre dinner cocktail service.
The food both ways was inedible. Sloppy overcooked beef on the way out and tastless chicken on the way back - yuk. Dressing it up with fancy names in the menu is an insult to the average pax intelligence. Next time I'll take sandwiches on board.
The coffee was awful instant muck.

Very suprised by this experience. I've never heard of loud music being played, usually relaxed music during boarding and it's barely loud enough to hear.

There isn't a "cocktail" service - however, there is usually a drinks run before dinner.

I'm assuming you had the chilli chicken meal? I'm suprised to hear this was bad, VS have made some good improvements with food lately and I found the chicken really nice. Could you not have opted for something else off the menu?

There isn't a drinks run on flights leaving after 7pm. The VS16 leaves at 7:30pm

As always thanks for the correction!

Thanks for the report - don't sit on the fence - say what you mean! ;)

Surprised to hear that you didn't like the food; a little worrying as we've got a PE flight to JFK next month and Mrs Monster has already said she's not going to eat onboard (an effort to feel better on arrival).

This definitely means I'll end up eating two meals - it's all paid for after-all!

To be fair I'll eat any old rubbish, plus I genuinely still think its amazing that you can get any hot food when 6 miles high and moving at 500 mph!

Also, can you recall the track that was playing? VA usually play something modern and uplifting upon boarding - usually they manage to get it spot on, particularly for the leisure traveller. I don't recall Hip-Hop particularly - but I'm no Jools Holland - Radio 4 for me.

Have you had any comparative expereinces with other airlines? I'd be interested to know who your are baselining the VA Premium Service against.

Thanks,

Craig.

This is the playlist for boarding. I don't know all of the tracks but so I don't know if any could be described as hip-hop ?|

Honey Lamb,

Never realised that there was a published playlist; so I've learned something today.

I don't reckon any of the tracks listed constitute 'Hip-Hop' but who decides these categories anyway?

Just flashed up iTunes - had a bit of a listen.

My bet is that the tune that caused the ruckus was Rocketeer by Far East Movement. Not really hard-core hip-hop, but there is some semblance of a rap in there.

Can the OP clarify the track? It's going to bother me if I don't find out.

Thanks

Craig I think you're probably right, they are an alternative Hip Hop band but that track was high in the singles charts in the US and featured Ryan Tedder of One Republic, much more POP and R&B in style.

Someone of my age really shouldn't know such stuff but spend far too much time in the US and have 3 sons in their twenties that play it far too loud. I love it!
