Hong Kong to LHR. Found when I checked us in on-line whilst still in Malaysia that my husband's seat had been moved from next to us in row A to much nearer the bar area. Managed to remedy this on check-in at HK and he ended up more or less opposite us in 4D, which was fine. Do not understand why the change was made as there were further problems when we boarded and a little boy travelling with his father ended up sitting further back than his dad (not allowed?) which was then remedied by having him sit in the seat originally booked for my husband next to me (which would have made sense of my h's move if the boy had been placed there originally not the random adult who had been). Flight coming from Sydney so maybe confusion there.
Check in at HK was smooth - we were 4 hours before take off as flown in from Malaysia. HKIA is excellent and a pleasure to be in. UC lounge is smaller than LHR, but I like the fact that it feels more intimate and it was easy to relax. Had a lovely shower to cool down and enjoyed a snack whilst waiting. Virgin ground staff could not have been more charming.
Boarded easily, though did not wait for the call in the lounge as I like to get settled. Separate entrance for UC section and soon settled in for departure on time at 2330. Seat showing its age a little - a bit chipped and tired, but comfortable. Cabin crew good though flight full, as usual, so they were working hard. Slept well and arrived at LHR early. UC baggage more or less through first - though we had to wait a lot longer for two bags they had put through as over size (long ski shaped display units). Charming driver home.
Overall a very positive experience.

Thanks for the TR - seems frustrating to have all the seats moved around, glad it worked out in the end :)
