After reading all of the posts here I'd like to make a point. I think the fact that on v-flyer there's an itinerary where those on UC sometimes invite us lowly Economy passengers to the clubhouse shows that most upper class passengers at least on here aren't your typical snobs. The only thing that makes me cringe a little is those that complain about babys noise. I mean it irritates me as well but sometimes there really is nothing a parent can do. Especially with a baba in a new enviroment like a plane. I will say I did have a little whine when on a flight to LA when they asked the UC passengers to put their seatbelts on over their duvets. Me and my flatmate looked at each other and groaned DUVETS we want a DUVET haha. I'm supposed to be a lefty and now I've posted defending those spending more money than I earn in 5 months on a flight....I'll be excommunicated from my political party of choice :p

Am a tad concerned about the tone of this and the 'Royal Wedding' flight threads today.

Any respect for individual views and choices seam to have been thrown out of the window.

I'll put it down to the weather.

I think that might be it some customers at work today were so agitated I think its the heat.

Similar experience getting on a BMI flight to Cairo last year, a guy was determined to get on the plane first with his 2 kids and wife/partner. I was in business and as I got on a few people behind them it did amuse me to watch them all disappear down to the back of the plane.

There's always a few idiots that think they're better than everyone else and sometimes we have to witness their silliness but that is just the way the world is. Rather than get upset, have a giggle to yourself because most of them will be really insecure and only find solace in acting superior to boost their confidence.

Every now and then you might get to witness their comeuppance when they actually come into contact with someone who really is more important than them. It really does destroy their world. Sad really but hey that's life.

Anyway getting back on subject, 2 definite do's and don'ts in UC. Do enjoy every minute of it including the clubhouse and a trip to the bar on board for a cocktail or 2. Don't let anyone stop you enjoying yourself for the whole experience. Oh, and that includes those pesky economy passengers :|

Have fun

I understand, sometimes it's a recollection, wistful perhaps, sometimes a look that says "thank you I am lucky", sometimes it's interest in what's there?

To be honest I have heard more sneery comments and snide looks FROM economy passengers that exude a kind of reverse snobbery towards premium or upper class passengers, very very seldom in my 13 years up front have I come in to contact with anyone snobby or holier than thou. Its possible some EC passengers might get unintentionally shoved because they enjoy blocking the way or deliberately crowding the priority boarding entrance. Assuming people are stupid for spending money is just as elitist and stuck up as some rich oik looking down on thems that don't.

Where and how people spend their money is pure choice and personal priorities, nothing to do with being stupid or obscene,
as long as people earn their money honestly no one should be snide about where they choose to spend it.

I have asked for a sleep suit going stateside for the same reason.

Not had much luck with the freedom menu concept to be honest.

Not sure the breakfast later thing will work, they seem to time it so its over just before descent.

And just for the record, if anyone shoved me and then some just for trying to get past, they would not be getting on the plane at all!

Odd how some EC passengers seem to think it appropriate to instruct UCS ones how to behave, not sure that would go down too well the other way around, like I say reverse snobbery.
