Hi this is my first post on the forum!
I am due to travel from Gatwick to Saint Lucia on the 6th may. I booked through virgin holidays and im on a "O" Class ticket.
The holiday is for my wedding and i am now want to upgrade to PE, what would be the best way to do this? i have been quoted £279 per person each way, is this likely to get a lot cheaper say if i left it till i got to the airport? i plan on doing the twilight check in on the 5th as early as i can.
Many thanks in advance
Steve

Welcome congrats on your upcoming celebrations.

The price you have been quoted is about correct. We flew out to MCO on Tuesday and they were offering upgrades to PE atthe airport for £249 per person.

The danger with waiting is that there won't be any seats left for sale, and also you won't get the best option on what seats to select. If you really want to fly PE then I suggest doing it earlier rather than waiting,

Thanks,
Neil

Hi thanks for the quick reply! does any one know how full the plane normally is this time of year? I have flew Virgin Eco before and found it very good! Is it worth the money to upgrade to PE? Many thanks

At the moment it is wide open with seats in all cabins

With regard to whether it is worth the money to upgrade only you can answer that but remember that in PE you will probably will be in the bubble and enjoy the exclusive feel of it :)

Would i be right in thinking then that if there are loads of seats free on the night i check in i could possibly get a better deal at twilight check in? Failing PE i am going to try for the extra leg room seats advertised at £30!!!

I had the same experience on a St Lucia flight a couple of weeks back - there were plenty of PE seats still free while Y was full... but even then on the day itself they still wanted £253 for an upgrade. So you might get a bit of an improvement on your current price, but don't expect miracles...

£279 seems reasonable to st lucia!

It's your honeymoon, splash out! ;)

Yeah im thinking it is worth splashing out being my hooney moon! After all the last flight i was on was a RAF TriStar heading to Afghan!!! come to think of it the next flight after this will also be a tristar to Afghan! unfortunatly i dont receive airmiles for these flights!!!
But as for saint Lucia i think i will splash out for my new wife and fly in style! well PE, first class is a bit out of reach!! for now any way!!! :D

I'd got for it now whilst it's available.

Yes it might get a tad cheaper at the airport but then again it might not.

There might not be availability at the airport either or the person in front of you in the queue nabs the last two seats

Congrats on the wedding

I noticed that on another post you mentioned you were flying on 5th May. The load check I gave you was for 6th May - the date you posted on here. If it is on the 5th the loads could be different, although if they are offering upgrades there must be availability

If you want to sit in PE then grab the deal now. I have never seen it get cheaper at the airport. VS would rather fly with empty seats than have a fire sale at check-in which sounds harsh but makes sense. All the customers that pay for the PE in advance would be miffed if it was half price at the airport and eventually no one would buy PE in advance which is a bad buisness model.
If I paid 250 and then the guy next to me paid 50 quid at check-in I would be annoyed.
