Hello! Managed to upgrade from PE on the VS004 to UC on the VS046 tonight which we're pretty pleased about.

Typing this with the obligatory champagne ready for my second UC experience. Got 20A&D which seemed like decent suites at this late stage. Looks like G-VROC is en route so we'll be seeing the new livery too.

One point of discussion though. We were on a U, using our Economy to PE upgrade vouchers, which are a very good deal to NYC as it's only 29,500 miles (I think) per person to get here. Slightly confused about how they arrived at 12,500 miles plus 30 squids in tax per person to upgrade the U to a G though?

Hope you enjoy the JFK Clubhouse - I will be there tomorrow ahead of my flight on the VS046 after flying up from TPA.

Can't remember - are there showers in the Clubhouse?

Sounds like a real bargain and I am sure you will enjoy. I know its 20,000 miles and 30 pounds to upgrade from PE (S or W) to UC (G) so not sure how they worked that out, but enjoy it.

Have fun.

Great result so why worry ??? :D Yes there are showers horburyflyer.
Pure miles redemption is 45,000 one way so assuming the difference from U if full mileage had been applied initially.
Enjoy :D

Horbury - that is VERY spooky. We flew up from TPA on AA1786 this morning. AA really are miserable as sin, and I got stuck next to a large man with BO. Perhaps this upgrade is karma!

I think its the fuel surcharge rather than the tax. APD only applies to the ex-UK leg

enjoy UC !

Thanks for the answers on the showers, I have travelled through JFK a few times with very short stays in the Clubhouse, so assumed showers would exist but always worth checking with the vflyer family.

Clarkeysntfc - now that is spooky. I am flying up with jetblue so they are pretty cool so should be ok, fingers crossed!! I have heard nothing but bad reports about AA but pleased the upgrade worked out ok, enjoy the champers!

This trip has definitely been a 'never again' moment for me when it comes to the US legacy carriers.

Never tried jetblue or virgin America but I will now me making sure I use them wherever available.

Agree with you 100%, on my last trip I used AA and it was awful.

My experience withVX was great and I always year great things about JB.
