Looking up flights from SFO -> LHR today for mid May in economy, and as I click through it brought up a click box for "would you like to upgrade your flight?"

Must resist the urge....

Also although they make it very easy to do through that process, it actually works out to $30 more than if I just search for the PE fare.

i think more a quirk of the complex fare and bookimg system than any deliberate intention to decieve people.

This would be logical if I had already booked the flight at the time I was offered the upgrade, but it was at the time I was just clicking through to select my flights.
