Hi, i'm a new member to the forum (and trans-atlantic flight for that matter) but have been enjoying reading posts for a few weeks now :).

However I need some help - I am flying VS001 LHR to EWR (and VS002 for the return trip) in late May in Economy but being a 'newbie' I booked my trip incl. flights through Thomas Cook (which I now regret) and have been allocated seats 58D and 58E. Upon logging in to Managing Flights on the VA website, I can view the seat plan but all other seats are unavailable. Is this normal or is it possibly due to the fact I booked through Thomas Cook?

I have read here that more (possibly better) seats appear closer to the departure date which I hope to secure but I am worrying that due to what I can/can't see due to booking through Thomas Cook on the VA website that I will not be able to choose these? Any ideas?

Only 60% of seats are available for pre-booking. Once 60% are allocated, nothing else will show available until the flight opens for check-in - this is applicable to everyone so it doesn't matter who you booked your ticket through.

If you want to change your seats, make sure to complete online check-in when it opens 24 hours before departure.

It's also worth checking your booking a few hours before OLCI opens too as quite often more seats have been released then.

I'm flying on the same flight on 31st of May. The seat plan looks pretty full for me at the minute and my seat choices were limited. Don't know whether May is usually busy.
