OK so first time ever in UC - won a holiday tour of the US but had to do won flights, into San Fran and out of LAX - was going for PE but UC MPM was just £250 more - tell me please that £1450 in August (with 7500 miles) is a stonking fare! Regardless of not getting miles etc.
Anyway on a Z ticket and have so many miles left - heard a rumour that if you ring the week you go you can negotiate getting the car using miles to/from LHR. Is there any truth to this rumour?
TIA

SFO is very expensive this year in general. I booked a MPM UC In the January sale, travelling in July, and paid £1500 + 15k miles. I thought I'd done pretty well but you beat me :)

I thought the only limo for miles offer was 17.5k but only for the business account service. Personally I'd keep the miles and pay tristar direct :)

That is an excellent MPM fare, especially in UC where they are notoriously poor. y)

If you are on a Z fare you do not qualify for a limo to/from LHR end of story, even using miles. It is only if you use miles for a full reward on a G fare that you can use miles for it.

Welcome and congrats on the competition win.

You might perhaps be confusing booking a CDC using miles with a 'trial' where people flying on a Z/G ticket who received 'invitations'(though some people rang up) could use drive through check-in using non CDC cars.

I have not heard of anyone being able to negotiate a CDC on a Z fare usimg miles.

Tonty, on my G to SFO last month, I received an email from VS offering the possibility of using my own transport to DTCI. Unfortunately was not in a position to take up the offer. Nearly missed it as IIRC it went to my junk mail folder!

Mr T - I have had the same offer - and was able to partake - as have several v-flyers.

I was suggesting that the OP was getting confused between this and being able to book a CDC with miles on a Z.

Well have booked my taxi, but obviously would rather save the £130 round trip and have miles I'm not going to use...but is it worth calling up the week I go and haggling (even the DTCI would be a nice extra to see me off in style; I'll only be doing the UC thing once!)

Have a great trip - turning left is very addictive and with your ability to find "deals" I doubt this will be your last UC flight! y)

Nothing wrong with phoning to see if you can use the DTCI using a private taxi (have done this myself but was 'invited' to take part in a 'trial') but it will depend on how busy it is on the date you fly and the time you want to arrive and there will be some security requirements that you will need to comply with.

Haggling about a car using miles probbaly won't helpo if you are on a 'z' fare. Never heard of anyone being able to use miles to get a cdc on a 'Z'

Don't forget miles don't expire for 3 years and an earnign activity extends this period too.

I know about the miles lifespan, and have Virgin AMEX so unlikely to expire as use that for everything, but my finances mean this will be the last travel for some time (and only going on this as won the comp).
But yes I know "turning left" will be addicitve, after fyling PE I could never do cattle class again, and have been squashed for 26 hrs to NZ and Oz more than once in the "bad old pre-PE days"!!!
