Our last three flights have been in UC but with rising costs and limited availability from MAN we decided to go PE.

Used OLCI for the first time. Got to the airport with plenty of time to spare, straight to a check in desk, all good. We had booked the Styal lounge so we headed there, again all good.

When we boarded and I first saw the PE cabin I was a little disappointed tbh but with hindsight, I think it was because I was comaparing it to UC and nothing can compare to the space etc in that cabin. As soon as the IFE started we were fine, our two girls selected 'kids only' on the system and they felt very grown up deciding what they wanted to watch etc, it kept them very busy and thoroughly entertained. For the first time since having children I was able to watch two complete films as I was able to stop and start as and when required (which was frequently!!!!).....

I had ordered a bottle of champers for DH as it was his birthday whilst we were away and I also thought it would ease the pain of not flying UC!!!! :D Anyway the CC asked me if I wanted it opening or not, I said yes please and so she took it away to chill it for me. About half an hour later two CC and a/the pilot presented the bottle to DH and sang happy birthday to him - priceless!!!!

Our meals were 'ok', I am not a great fan of airplane food! Drinks were served frequently and we had a sandwich/cookie later in the flight as well as ice cream. The CC were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The service we received on this flight was equal to that of the UC cabin.

I can safely say that this was our best flight ever (apart from our first time in UC which was can't be beaten) and I think it was down to a mixture of the girls being older (7 & 5) so they were as good as gold and the IFE which was fabulous and a great CC.

We flew back in the Bubble, so will review that later!

Thanks for the TR! Was this in the downstairs cabin then?

Please let me know more about the food on board, as we go in June.

I know you didn't ask me, but, when I did this route I went in both economy and PE and thought the food was worse in PE. BUT, my folks did the same route a few weeks later and thought the food was great. Maybe it just all depends on what batch you get.

You won't go hungry! The food was 'ok' and I wouldn't expect much more than that on a plane?!?! DH had hotpot, girls had pasta and I had the fishcake. All more than edible but can't rave about it!

My overall feeling of the cabin was that it was a bit cramped but if you take the seat with it's legroom and IFE on it's own and ignore the surroundings it was fine IYSWIM. Having flown back in the bubble in PE, same size seat etc but older style, just having that wider aisle makes everything feel more spacious even though your seat is exactly the same....

DH is 6'2" and was more than happy with the legroom y)

HTH,
