Same fare cheaper on another website

Hi guys,

I have found the same fare £50 cheaper per person on ebookers.com than direct with virgin online. I am booking for 4 people so the saving of £200 is quite appealing. Does anybody know if I ring virgin will they match the fare price? Cheers guys.

While I can't say whether they will or will not price-match, you may find that you are locked into a fare bucket that you are stuck with if you decide to upgrade.
If that's not a consideration then the maxim is, if you're happy with the fare then take it.

FWIW, I've booked a fare via Expedia and one of the benefits is that I have not been landed with the atrocious credit card fees VS charges - just a €15 admin fee

Check the e-bookers CC fees they are quite high so your bargain might not be such a bargain mind VS charge CC fees to! (not sure about debit cards though)

What is the price on expedia? they don't charge card fees.

That said VS do claim to be cheapest on-line so a call might be worth it. Just make sure its exactly the same flights etc though.

to be honest, I would suggest doing it over the phone. The T&C's suggest you have to purchase the fare first, which seems silly without knowing if VS will match.

A friend of mine got a price match over the phone, only £20 but £20 is £20 as they say!

Got a price match on my booking last year - can't remember exactly how much the difference was, I think around £35 per seat but Crystals was cheaper than Virgin. You only have 24 hrs to send in the match, and need to take a screenshot of the website you found the lower price on. The price match is only on the actual "fare" portion - taxes,fees, charges and surcharges and fuel charges do not count, so make sure the seat you are looking at is actually cheaper and it's not lower fees/charges.
Mine was processed within 48hrs.

would be interesting to know how a 3rd party are able to "alter" taxes/fees/surcharges ?? Given these are supposed to be direct costs from VS
If so shows what a mockery these charges are!

Claim needs to be in by midnight the same day NOT within 24 hours

So if you book your flight at 23.30 you only have 30 mins !


@ NH I guess someone could do a "we'll pay the APD" offer like some stores to a 'VAT' free promotion

The only real adjustment could be to the fuel surcharge as all the other elements are set by the government(s) (taxes) or the airports who will want the set amounts

Or save yourself the hassle, and £200, by booking with eBookers?

Yea i kind of think that now, specially as it's actually £60 per ticket now so £240 overall!
