This will be our first trip, with Virgin, since the change to their Spa offerings (last time I flew with Virgin, almost 3 years ago, there was a fairly small range of treatments on offer and they were all free (well included).

Not sure that I will have much time for a treatment anyway (we are travelling with a toddler - my husband might kill me if I disappear for a spa appointment B) ), and I realise that bookings aren't easy to get hold of anyway, but are any of the free treatments worth the effort? My thoughts are that a free treatment would be very brief and I might get permission to go for one ):

Have a look on the menu for them on the VS website. There are seperate ones for LHR and LGW (you don't say where you are flying from). The menus state how long they are but in general 15/30 minutes

As to how easy they are (or not) to get depends on what day and time your flight is and how long you are in the CH for.

As to your OH givig 'permission' tell him time alone with your toddler will be some of this 'quality time' all you parents want with yor children!

I've only had the facial which basically is a cleanse, tone and moisturise. It's supposed to last 20 minutes but barely lasted 10. :(!

I think the massages are about 15 minutes

Hi,

FWIW and IMHO etc...
The wife and I had a couple of free treatments in December before heading off on our Honeymoon;
I went for the back/shoulder massage, Mrs Monster had a foot thing(?).

We both loved our treatments. We had a good 3-4 hours to kill so time wasn't an issue. And we were there just after 7, booking early, (like a right couple of newbies!)

If/when we do UC again, I'll probably pay for a longer massage, (I love a good rub-down!). Mine was about 20 mins I think but I was pretty blissed out. It was quiet as well - so maybe they didn't need to rush?

So definitely worth it from our point of view but each to their own...

Craig.

I'm with Craig and Mrs Monster on this.

While you are there and have access to the clubhouse and all it's facilities, you might as well enjoy them. If you are at Heathrow, there is a kiddies play area in the far corner from the entrance where you could park hubby and toddler. I'm sure the staff will keep him plied with champagne while you have some pampering. :)

If you do decide to have a treatment, book in as soon as you arrive. It can get busy and there's nothing worse than feeling that you need to rush off while being pampered.

I found exactly the same :( Think I've pretty much given on them for good now, just at the time when I probably need them most 8D

Thanks very much.

Husband is actually really good, but I am expecting a fairly difficult flight (keeping a super-inquisative 17 month old occupied).... so I don't want to ask for too much "me time" (since things are better when we work together).

May well try to book the "shoulder/upper back" massage: short time-wise and, well, "nothing to loose". A quick facial doesn't appeal (since I will use good cleansers and moisturisers before leaving for the aiport) and head/scalp massages always make me look like I have been dragged through a hedge backwards ii).

Some of the longer treatments ARE tempting, but I doubt that we will have time (flying from LHR, plan to arrive at 9am for a 11:50am flight).

Thanks
Boo
