Hopefully there will be some better deserts on the autumn menu for my inbound.

Well it reads well
Hope it eats well
What's wrong with S'mores?

And thanks Tinks - that was quick

I wonder who will be the first to mention the demise of a certain accompaniment

OK with the outbound but inbound, no veggie starter and am allergic to both pastry and asparagus so now what? This is my first, and only, UC flight so shall I email them ahead or wait until we hear what's for PE?

Erm there is a veggie starter on the inbound:

"Roasted beet carpaccio with a slice of gorgonzola cheese, walnuts and pomegranate balsamic dressing"

THere are two veggie starters - basically posh cheese and tomato salads ! Not sure I like the idea of thin sliced beets though.

I think roasted beet carpaccio is vegetarian? :)

EDIT - I posted this right after the question about the starter - not sure why it came up way later....sorry didn't intend to cause offence. :#

I think I shall be having a combination of starters and Lite Bites for the outbound in a month's time :?

Dont want to order "special meal" as they tend to be very unspecial! I'll wait and see what the PE menu looks like, and as I come back on 4th Sept it might be all change then anyway(else I'll have both puds!)

Ahh, with a return on that date, it's very likely to be a different menu.

Just bear in mind that there is very little spare catering loaded these days and relying on a PE meal being available might mean you are disappointed as well as hungry,

Thanks for taking the time to post the menu.

Yet again, we won't be eating on the outbound, what a vile menu. (Sorry, personal view) John's allergic to prawns, and we couldn't/wouldn't eat any of the mains. I can't believe they aren't serving any meat dishes.
Inbound is not so bad for us. (The main at least, won't touch the starters) I don't drink wine and they don't have diet Pepsi. I'll just have to drink all the Baileys!

If we were to order a 'special' meal does anyone know where we would be able to find out what they actually consist of? Would asking for extra sandwiches be an option?

Many thanks for any help,

Kaz

Thank you very much Tinkerbelle y)

I must admit that I am "dubious" of many of the choices - does seem like someone is trying to be too clever for their own good, BUT nothing there will kill me :) (assuming no Spanish cucumber garnish... :w )

My suggestion to those who really don't like the food onboard is to look for "takeaways" from ther terminal (doesn't the caviar house, or whatever, do takeaways for flights?). That is what I would do. Yes you shouldn't have to, but an airline can't choose a menu that suits everyone all of the time and the most important thing is that you eat something you like (so take it with you).

Do Virgin still actively support the "freedom" concept for dining? If available, am I likely to be able to get an extra appetiser or set of sandwiches midway through the flight (going to MIA if that makes a difference).

Thanks
Boo

That's exactly what I was thinking for my Vegas trip next week, either than or raid the M&S food store before departure :D
