My husband and I are flying Upper class from LHR to SFO; at the moment I have tentatively prebooked 5A and 5K (upstairs). Are these lie-flat beds reasonably close to each other or is there a huge gap inbetween - we don't want to be shouting at each other for the whole journey!

Would we best having seats in front of one another instead?

Hi and welcome to V-Flyer. :)

Seats 5A/K have an aisle between them and although you won't have to shout, you won't be able to whisper either.

If you want close, have a look at seats 12A/K or 14A/K downstairs. They are much more intimate seats, although they do have some drawbacks, such as no overhead bins.

Normally they are blocked out until OLCI opens, but some have managed to snag them earlier.

I would suggest seats one in front of the other would be better. It's easy to pop your head over the partition to speak to one another rather than across the aisle.

As you are on a day flight to SFO you might consider moving to the seats in the pointy end downstairs where you are more likely to get the whole UC experience rather than in the bubble. If 12A and K are available you will be able to chat to each other very easily

I agree with HL, I would much rather be downstairs in the A-Zone, much better feeling of space.

You could go for 12A/K, opposite each other, or any 2 one in front of the other elsewhere in the nose cone.
