Hello!

After many months of just reading this is my first post, what an excellent site.

I have booked on VS085 on Thursday 21st July (MAN – LAS) with a return on Sunday 24th July on VS086 (LAS – MAN) in upper to watch the Amir Khan fight in Vegas.

Just trying to get a price for a second seat for a friend and the flight search is showing “No Flights” but when I check the seat map for my booking I am the only one showing on the outward flight and there are 8 empty seats for the return.

At first I thought there had been an aircraft change but both seat maps are for a 747-400 config. 1

I have not yet phoned Virgin reservations which will be my next step but I was wondering if this happens often where you can't book online for an apparently empty cabin?

Thanks!

Hi

I am no expert here, but had a quick look on expert flyer for availability for the flights specified in upper. It is showing no seats in upper available out, and only 2 available for the return.

A few possible reasons:

- the flight is empty and VS is considering cancelling it (doubtful in July)
- the flight is actually full but people have not yet requested seats
- the Web site is error prone

#2 or #3 is most likely and EF shows availability for your flights as:

Outbound: J0 D0 R0 Z0 W2 S1 K0 Y9 B9 L9 M9 Q9 X5 N0 O0
Inbound: J2 D1 R0 Z0 W9 S9 K9 Y9 B9 L9 M9 Q9 X9 N9 O9

So, #2, it's full. You were lucky to get your seat y) .

Seems the best you can do if you want to travel on the same flight is to book your friend PE outbound and UC inbound. But the cheaper K fares in PE have gone on the outbound and the Z and R's on the way back so the price could be mouthwatering. At least if you buy an S or W fare on the way out it will be upgradeable with miles to upper should any availability miraculously appear.

This is one of the idiosincracies of the VS system in it says 'no flights' when the cabin class requested is full rather that 'no seats available' and it dosnt offer you the alternative classes you have to search for them yourself
