Could i humble myself to the wealth of knowlege of the masses here. I am travelling back from JFK on the VS003 which according to timing lands at 10:40 and connecting to the LHR to Man flight in the afternoon a 15:30 flight.

Would you book luggage all the way through from JFK to Man so when you get off you can have a relaxing few hours in revivals? that I think is nice way to end a holiday as we have never used the Revivals lounge.

Many thanks

Jurgen

Given your time available, I'd be tempted to get your luggage, revivals is nice, nothing amazing, opportunity to get a shower, a basic pampering and spot of breakfast, an hour and a bit you'll be done.. Least having bags to hand you could change etc
Subject to your amount of luggage least having it to hand means you'll have more confidence of it transiting through LHR safely.. All hinges on the hassle factor of taking it between terminals..

i agree with above, revivals is good for about an hour, other than shower & breakfast there's nothing to keep you amused for several hours - unless you really like breakfast!

that's a long layover - are there any better connections? i regularly transfer in heathrow for manchester & you need a couple of hours in case of delays - often there's air traffic at that time in a morning as all the trans-atlantics arrive at once - but 5 hours is too long for me.

one tip is to avoid flight connections & take the 10-15 minute walk from T3 to T1, the security queues at flight connections can be horrible

A couple of reasons for the long delay on my last flight from Jamaica we were diverted to bermuda for a medical emergency so i missed the connection and because i booked the flights seperatly had to pay for a new flight and the later flight was a tad cheaper :D

VS003 is the outbound flight from LHR to JFK. VS010 is the inbound flight from JFK to LHR that lands at 10:40am the following morning.

You'll need to collect your bags at LHR as this is where you willnbe clearing customs before getting a domestic flight to MAN.

If you have booked separately this time you will have a bit if persuading to do to get your bags checked through anyway - single PNR etc.Personally, I would check through if there was the option- better not to have to lug it cross LHR.
I shouldn't imagine that there is an issue with customs- flying to Belfast, international bags come out separately tagged.
I booked my future flights through premier with the connections. I was told that they were on separate tickets and would have to purchase new flights if there was a delay. The connections do show up on 'manage my booking' - I am unsure whether BD will check through but I am hopeful as I do not have a separate PNR.

You don't have to collect your bags at LHR if they are checked through as MAN has customs facilities. The bags will not have the green stripe on the tags indicating that it has come from an EU country so the passenger should go through the Green Channel as opposed to the Blue EU one and the customs official can stop him.

The main thing will be getting your bags tagged through if you are on separate tickets. Sometimes it has been possible but I have noticed that they seemed to have tightened up on this in the US in recent years
