40 mins through Zurich - (ticketed as such)- at gate with 20 mins to spare.

Late arrival VS from LAX connecting to BD - should have been 2 hours - was 20 mins. We were literally frogmarched - but made it. The luggage didn't though.

I had a 1hr 20 min connection at Qatar about 3 years ago. I was flying with a colleague straight through from LHR to Singapore, but we had to change planes - fortunately both legs were Qatar Airways and we were in business class. We left LHR about an hour late and had visions of an unscheduled night in Qatar.

When we landed we were met at the plane rushed through the airport and security then bundled onto the waiting plane for the second leg. They had held it back for us. The doors were closed behind us literally as we stepped on. Two of our four bags made it (the business stuff) but our clothes took a further 2 days to arrive! We were only there for 4 nights.

The airline gave us each US$150 each that night. After 24 hours, our insurance company said we could spend up to £1,000 each on clothes and necessities. Every cloud has a silver lining :)

A trip I did a couple of years ago to Toronto via JFK. I left a 5 hour gap between flights just in case. The american eagle flight that was going to take me back to JFK arrived in toronto on time so I was hoping all would be ok. Apparently a wheelchair they were offloading clipped the plane and they'd have to get it checked over. My 5 hours gap was eating away and they assured me all would be o.k. 2 hours before my VS flight was due to leave they said the flight was cancelled.

I asked them what if I missed my VS flight (I'd booked both flights independantly). They said dont worry, they could fly me back with AA in economy! I had an upperclass ticket so wouldnt be to happy flying back in economy.

They managed to get me on a flight to La Garde and got me a taxi to JFK where I just made the flight with seconds to spare!

I will never travel with connections again as the outbound flight was eventful aswell!
