After a short week in Mauritius visiting family and resting on the beach, we were back on our way home. My dad dropped us off kerbside and we made our way to check in.

We had already done OLCI the previous evening (in the chase for SEQ1 - and we got nowhere near... ii) ) but had not printed boarding passes. We spotted a bag drop counter that had no queue, so we thought we would try our luck and were successful - asked for exit row and this was also obliged. Boarding passes issued and luggage checked, we went straight to security which was pain free and swift.

Had a quick look at the shops which were priced in Euro and incredibly overpriced then headed to the MK lounge, access granted through PP. Was quite busy, but free Wifi and plugged my laptop in to charge and had a quick shave. The internet was slow but sped up a little when the lounge cleared a little. With only a couple of flights left due out that evening, it got quieter as time went on. A decent range of drinks from a bar service and some hot buffet snacks were available.

Although they made announcements in the lounge, we left before our flight was called and found that boarding had already started. Straight on board, found some overhead space and got settled in.

Dinner was served shortly after take off, again two full meal trays served on this flight. Dinner was a choice of beef, 'captain fish' or a vegetable masala. I went for the fish which was actually pretty good.

The tiramisu desert was also nice, with a small chocolate to finish off with.

The flight wasn't as packed as the outbound, and managed to recline my seat this time. You can definitely tell that the 777-300 are the older ships in the fleet compared to the ERs. No mood lighting or fibre-optic ceiling for a start!

A 'selection of sandwiches' and chocolate gateau were served before arrival.

Arrival into DXB was fairly smooth and straight up to the departures concourse via a security checkpoint. The transfers desk was unmanned so no opportunity to try for exit row for the next sector - thought we would try the seats that we had already requested for a comparison.

Had a quick browse around the shops and then up to the Marhaba lounge again, which was quite quiet and with a different selection of food to last time; a different range of hot food and some traditional breakfast items - chocolate muffins, pain au chocolat and various croissants incuding cheese topped and chocolate drizzled nom!
