Over on TripAdvisor there is a thread that VS are messing about with pre booked seats etc. Some folk going into their bookings are finding that the seats they booked are now non existent.
I am sorry that l can't do a link, but there is quite a discussion going on at the moment.
It's making me a tad nervous about our booking for November.
Maybe you experts on here can throw some light on this one.

Many Thanks

Virgin don't do pre-booked seating. You can request a seat but it clearly states all over the VS website and the manage my booking section, that seat allocations are not guaranteed and can be changed at any time.

This is not something new so the people posting on TA really have no grounds to be upset/unhappy.

Neil.

Sorry Neil, l didn't wish to cause alarm in any way.
When l booked our UC seats to SFO l guessed that the seats Virgin allocated were the seats we would have, even though l won't be in a postion to do olci.

Are they flying in PE from MAN/LGW as all the seat maps were deleted in error by VS but I thought most of them were back by now but perhaps not necessarily with all the previous 'requests'.

In Y and PE, you need to do OLCI at least 13 hours before the flight otherwise any seat allocation could be lost. Saying that, in any class, at any time right up until you are sat in your seat your seat could be changed.

tontybear, l do believe that this is the case as PE was mentioned.Thank You for that.

Thank you Neil for the explanation. Looks like l will have to rely on our overnight hotel to come good with our olci.

So sorry if l appear to be a wee bit dense here, call it senior moments!

Many Thanks

I may have misread somewhere, but it seemed to infer that the 13 hour rule was only for heathrow, it was 2 hours otherwise. I've a PE and an UC in the list at the moment, so that could have just been for UC one.

Yes the 13 hr cut off (to retain pre assigned/selected seats) is for LHR only. Everywhere else its 2.

Its not the absolute cut of for OLCI though.

THere used to be a note saying this didn't apply to PE or UC but that seams to have vanished from the website

Mmmmm that has made me think about our recent booking. :? My wife and I made a fistful of Z flights and the extremely helpful agent on the premium number helped with with the "facts" concerning DTCI. She also said to check in online atleast 13hrs before the flight to retain out seat requests. Mrs HH has never been advised this when booking J for her business flights (now having to use BA due to change of contracts :(! ) but maybe, just maybe, the policy has changed that even UC pax have to complete OLCI :?
