I really am not in the mood (work issues) to do a fully descriptive TR except to say this was an excellent flight and I wanted to share the menu with you all to show how LX gets it right and VS dosen't !

The only letdown was the IFE - the system itself is excellent but the choice of films was dire. THe best film was Dangerous Liaisions!

Fennel and tomato Ragut with green olives. Long grain rice

Beary looking distinguished!

I saw these chaps as we were waiting to leave the gate. One had just driven the load lifter and the other rode/wheeled the bikes

Post take off drinks / nuts (came in a packet not a dish)

Starter the trout mouse and roe was sublime

Slinky Beware ! this was lurking under the salad!

The main course. The beef was deliscious. Not sure about the risotto galette though - tasted like rice pudding!

Beary and Tonty having fun. Think Beary was listening into ATC

Dessert and cheese (and a glass of port too!). The rosemary in the apple cream really came through but did not overpower.

Mid flight ice-cream. Freshly scooped from a tub and served in a cone. Plenty left for seconds too !

Drat, I thought I liked Swiss, now that's another one on my no go list n( . Slightly ameliorated by the absence of any sign of gravy though!

Thanks for the TR, I wish VS upped its on board dining game, that looked great, and Swiss doesn't cost more!

Tonty - out of interest, did you fly via ZRH to utilise the "AMS fiar trick"? Did you try various routings for this, or did you go for ZRH specifically to use Swiss.....just for my information really for future flight sourcing...

Slinky - infact Swiss was a lot less than VS. And yes there was no gravy just a cherry tomatoe in its natural home of salad !

Concorde - no this was not the 'AMS' trick. My routing was actually LHR-ZRH-ORD (and back) so I still had to pay the APD as my route started in the UK. Even so it was still cheaper than VS.

Ice cream! Yummmy!

I realize there are huge catering cost for ice cream onboard. It is not on the LHR-ORD menu and unlikely on any VS Upper menu. It is on every DL BusinessElite menu...

Er Ben, it does get served on VS and comes round at some stage after the main meal and it has appeared as a dessert - albeit rock solid!
