Just been on to pay my balance and noticed the following:

EARN A FREE NIGHT AT ANY OF OUR 10 DISTINCT HOTEL BRANDS AROUND THE WORLD Spend £750 within 90 days of opening your Hilton HHonors Platinum Visa account and receive a free night certificate. With 3,700 hotels and resorts in 82 countries, you’re closer than ever to sharing a free night with the ones you love.

That's much better than it was previously (7.5k or 10k points) as this could be worth up to 50K points for a one night stay at a cat 7. There is also a bonus on 2.5k points per stay for the first 4 stays charged to the card and (ongoing) gold membership if you spend £10k a year. Silver membership comes as standard which isn't worth much TBH but does get you access to the VIP redemption rate levels.

Day to day spending points aren't great, but if you need a back up to an AMEX its better than no points/miles.

If you wanted to you could transfer the 50k miles for 7.5K VS FC miles, although I think you'd be mad to.

Card is annual fee free too

I have been using this card for all my non amex purchases and it has been quite good as a balance booster which i always convert back into ff miles.

I cant as yet see a better current non amex card to use than this, it would be interesting to see what others use when its not amex?

cheers

I have the Hilton Visa but due to the frequent 0% balance transfer offers that Barclays (the card operator) give, i usually have a balance on it and don't use it for spending. On my last BT, I was awarded HH points... not sure that was supposed to happen but I'm not complaining!

I usually use the bmi mastercard when I can't use my VS AX. At least I can spend the miles on VS!

Tesco Mastercard then convert the £2.50 vouchers into 500 BA Miles

Combined with the BA Amex 2:1 it works out well.

Be aware that if you use the card in over the phone transactions the dimwits at Barclaycard will stop your card every time. Also don't dare try paying them with a different debit card than the first one registered,it will be rejected but your current account will still be debited and the money will hang in limbo for 10 days v(

Funnily enough I said earlier I had the hilton card, its such a shame that barclays have this card as i have never in all my time ever had such a mickey mouse card in terms of customer service.
Its the little things like wanting to raise the credit limit, all my other cards have high ceilings as i use them for work but no, not barclaycard!

I went over my agreed LOW ceiling once and they wouldnt waive the penalty, all my other card issuers will and happily do reguarly.

And just like you said went on holiday to orlando tried to pay my balance via my wifes debit card not mine, took 2 hours off my morning trying to see if it could be done any other way, yet again lloyds came to the rescue and transfered the funds over.

I only keep the card because I have issue with Tesco (although I appreciated spikeke earlier help) and wouldnt buy anything from them including credit cards which leaves me with very little choice. :D

cheers
