I have just received my new AU card and luggage tags. So far so good.

The gold card itself has not changed since last year and still uses the old style Flying Club logo. That's not too bad as the logo is small and the card spends most of its life in my wallet.

The sad part is since Virgin have just spent all that time and money creating the new brand logo, you would think they would use it everywhere possible, particularly on highly visible luggage tags that will stay on for the whole year (and more).

I'm sure there is a cost involved in reprinting and they want to use up old stock, but it seems a shame to be perpetuating the old brand when they could bring some of these things up to date.

Am I being too picky?

I personally think you are being a bit too picky. While I can see where you are coming from, I would rather they used up the old stock first than spend extra money printing new cards for the sake of the logo. If you look at people's luggage there's a variety of cards to be seen at the airport as some people haven't changed them - perhaps because they have gone down to Silver or Red and they don't want to give up their old tags. :D

It's no different to getting the old style boarding passes at some stations because they are using up the old ones.

It doesnt matter one jot to me what cards they send out and how they look (and have been awful for the last few years imho) - I dont use them and use the Amex centurion ones.
However I agree with HoneyLamb - please use the old ones rather than waste money and resources to print new ones until they are used up.

I agree about what they look like, I loathe those baggage tags so they head straight into the bin on receipt (V-Flyer tags are so much cooler!).

However on rebranding, well to me, rebranding is just that. You do it or you don't, or in the case of VS you half-doodly-do-it. Rebranding is a cost, so why not apply it consistently. As to stocks, well if these are printed on demand then that's somewhat shameful, they should be so there should be no stock!

Perhaps, much like the website, they are re-branding department by department:D Or even, stationery cupboard by stationery cupboard:D

Yes they are yukky but we are not forced to use them. So hide them in a drawer or run them through the shreader!

There are far, far more important things to worry about than FC cards (or like last month 'big argument' the new boarding passes!)

I do find their re-branding strategy strange, I mean you would think the liveries on their aircraft would be quite important to them, I know re-paints are expensive but at the end of the day the planes are the route of the airline. I live above the runway in ANU and for the last 2-3 years now I see 4 different liveries over the course of 2 weeks, I think it's quite poor to have such a lack of consistency in their brand image.

Personally don't know why they ever changed from the purple border, it was the best and it still is the best logo/livery, just saw it here the other day, nothing beats it on the 747 !
