Hi all

We have been trying to find somewhere on the gulf coast for 1 week stay in Feb 2012. We have booked a villa in Orlando for the previos week.
Due to budget and stay length (many condos want minimum 1 month - I wish !!!) we are struggling to find somewhere in the Englewood area which came highly recommended when I posted on here a while back.

We have found a 2 bed condo on Marco Island which seems to meet our requirements (Mum, Dad and 4 year old) but wanted peoples honest opinions on this location.

Any info much appreciated.

Many thanks

One word sums it up and that is stunning. We have visited many if not all of the Islands around those parts of Florida and Marco stands out way ahead of the others in terms of magnificent white sandy beaches, fine dining experiences, and generaly gentele residents and visitors alike. That said we dont have children and we like relaxed luxury so if thats you "thing" then I am sure you will be as enchanted as we are with Marco.

I haven't actually stayed overnight but have visited friends there and been very impressed. You may find ,at that time of year, there are many elderly "snowbirds" still in residence. I love all the Gulf Islands in that area. Very relaxing.

We booked in a hotel in Sanibel in Febuary but found the Island very crowded with snowbirds and "less than desirable" younger visitors :(! so moved to Marco again which we knew was ideal for us a couple in our 20's. Speaking to locals it sounded like we choose well and I think that is the key; like decoration the more time spent in the preparation (reading up) the better as one could be dissapointed like we were until we moved to our Floridian Island Heaven :)

We stayed there for two weeks over Christmas 2010 and thought it was a lovely island - safe, clean, friendly and with lovely beaches. We would definitely go back.

Stayed there for a couple of weeks last April. Lovely area. Does your condo have been access included? Otherwise, I think most are paid-only access.

We were very taken with the burrowing owls - though Feb may be too early for their breeding season. Spent hours watching the nest next door to us...
