Evening all,

I've got to go to Auckland next month and have been looking at the best way of getting there. Currently it looks as though it's a toss up between Singapore Airlines via SIN or Air NZ via LAX. Can't go with BA as they appear to be nearly twice the price (£7.5K) of the others.

Any experts out there want to offer any advice on which one to go with or recommend any other options.

Thanks

Not sure if this helps make up your mind but you can also fly NZ via HKG. The Business class trips in the random dummy booking I did were also cheaper via HKG than LAX

The NZ website also offeres a connection off the VS900 via Tokyo.

I think there are a couple of NZ TRs on here as well

As a VS partner you can also earn miles/TP with NZ and if you are in Business it is the same VS seat.
Whilst NZ does offer PE cabin it is not as good as the VS cabin but of course way better than Y !

I thought the new NZ PE product (on the LAX route) had received stella reviews?

My expeience was the LHR-HKG flight (777) although I thought they used the same plane to circle the globe. Maybe they had an older verison this wek LHR-HKG.

It looked good, but apparently the legroom was dire, so they're in the process of removing a row of PE from the planes that were refitted!

Ah well at least they are addrsssing the problem rather than keeping it as is and dissapointing customers.

Back to the original post.
I flew Virgin to Shanghai on VS250 then with a tight, but legal, 1 hr 25 min connection, changing to Air New Zealand NZ88 direct to Aukland. It all worked pretty well. My trip report is here

On the other discussion, I found the older ANZ PE seating quite good. They were economy seats so not as wide as VS, but in a config with loads of legroom and great cabin service.

Cheers

Hi All,

Thanks for your views. I've booked Air NZ and am flying Business Premier via LAX.

I'll let you know how it goes.
