first part of a short notice trip back to the UK.
OLCI all done and seat 3D (aisle) reserved. Fort Myers is a great airport for me, a mere 60 minutes drive from our home. Security is so quick from being dropped off I was at the gate in 10 minutes. Departure time was 1735 with arrival at JFK schduled for 2030. Just about time to make my connection with VS010 whose gate closed at 2200. fortunately I had no checked bags.
things started to go awry with a late inbound and a revised depature of 1800. boarding was a scrum though the ELR seat granted priority. Even though I was only about 10th onto the plane the overhead bins were already full due to the huge size and amount of hand luggage US carriers seem to allow.
Just before sitting down it was obvious there was a slight altercation beween a man and lady in 3B & C. words were eing said and getting more heated apparently over the lady trying to help a seperated couple sit together. eventually ground staff confronted the two and asked if there was going to be a problem, the response was egative but the guy who was soooo
obnoxious just had to keep having the last word.
This resulted in the captain coming down to tell them if they didnt stop immediatley they would both be kicked off. there then followed a hilarious exchange between the male pax and the captain
Pax 'are you the captain'
Capt ' I appear to be'
PAx 'Hi hank XXXXXX ' and he introduced himself (like the captain cared) and offered his hand. the common consensus of fellow pax at this stage was PRATT.
PAX ' you will have no problem with me capt, you're in charge'
Capt - 'yes I am well aware I am but thank you for confiming it' and he promptly walked off smiling. HOWEVER we were now a further 20 minutes late with me looking at watch and thinking 'connection-tight'. ii)
THEN 2other pax decided to change seats which once again required the captain's intervention. by now even he was getting teed off as he tersely declared 'get em sat or get em off'. by now my watch glancing was getting more nervy.

Eventually we took off ..1830.

flight up to JFK was quiet and uneventful and we touched down at 2110 bad but not a disaster. we then started to taxi twards the gate , and stopped !! :? and sat :( and sat v( finally getting to the gate at 2125. 35 mins left to get from T5 to T4 AND clear security....not quite. the air bridge got stuck so we stood and waited, and waited and ......waited until - i finally deplaned at 2135 with now 25 mins left.
would I make it or be stuck in JFK all night ????

...................................go to the VS TR to see (drum roll)
