Hi all,

I am due to fly PE on VS035 LGW to ANU. I was talking to someone recently who said he often sees upgrade offers at the check in desks at LGW. Does anyone know if this is the case and what the likely cost is to upgrade from PE to UC?

Thanks,
Ben

Hello!

It will depend on availability on the day, the UC cabin on the LGW flights generally only has 14 seats so limited availability means limited offers.

However, upgrades are possible and can vary from £500-900 or higher 1 way.

Thanks Cal. I thought it sounded a little strange considering the size of the UC cabin on the LGW/MAN fleet. To be honest, I'm looking forward to being in the bubble, never flown up there before. The wife on the other hand, got spoilt when we used points to upgrade to UC last year so wants to go again!

I've heard that many times, once you turn left it's hard to fly any other way! Lol

The bubble will be lovely and perhaps you could book the No.1 lounge at LGW, to get the holiday off to a good start?

Will have a look into that! Booked through VH and they gave us the option to book the CH for £50 pp. However considering the time of the flight probably won't have enough time in there to justify the £100!

Remember the VS035 will also be carrying passengers to Barbados, so this flight is almost always operating at full capacity, making the upgrade that little less likely than on a direct flight. Keep those fingers crossed though ! :D

If they say they are full then they are full. They would not tell you it was fully booked if it wasn't. The lounge only has limited capacity which they strictly control

I think you are right seany when I go online to choose my seat it shows no availability other than the seats I have, fortunately in the bubble. I know they keep some back but never seen that before although it's been a long time since I flew on a LGW flight.

Don't forget the 60% rule - VS only makes 60% of seats available for pre-request with (most of) the balance released at OLCI (though sometimes available 3-4 hours pre OLCI)

This might also be a factor from the VS website PE Seat Reservations (3rd/4th stories)

When do you fly? As the date might help determine if UC might be available - more chance on a less popular date.
